I went to the urologist today for a blood flow procedure. He gave me an injection of Edex and I felt almost no erection. I laid on the doctor's table for 10 minutes until the doctor came back and checked the blood flow. He showed me a graph and said this shows a very poor result; your blood flow is low and it's not trapping the blood that does go into the penis. My history is about 10 years of declining performance until the last couple of years almost no morning erections and even the inability to masturbate without pills or injections. I've tried pills, vacuum, and injections with varying success - never steady - a lot of disappointments but some good times.
Anyway, he told me, look you tried everything: pills, vacuums, testosterone, and injections. You're at the end of the menu. I was annoyed he asked me what I wanted to do while I was laying on the table with my pants down! It seemed to me that besides no bedside manner, it was all about his motivation to perform another implant surgery.$$
Perhaps he is just a pragmatic doctor - I don't know.
Anyway, it wasn't the news I wanted to hear. I felt a little angry and disappointed. I told him: I'm not going to decide on the spot. He said okay and asked if I had any questions. I said I had two: Why the penis isn't working and is there any hope to rehabilitate it.
He said that even though my cardiologist says I don't have heart problems that ed is a precursor to heart disease that affects the smallest blood carriers first. Since I take BP medication he believes that explains the condition. As to the second part of the question, he said that there is nothing to restore the penis function. Its like a bad liver, its a progressive condition that wont improve.
Btw, this urologist is supposed to be "the best" in the country according to my sources here in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
I'd appreciate some feedback from anyone that thinks they can add some insights in this personal journey that I'm on.

Hey there topdog, I have exactly the same symptoms and suspected the BP medication as well. I also noticed the veins around both ankles showing spots right about the same time as the reduced erections. I am at a decision point myself, I have actually thought about giving up the BP meds to see if i can get the erections back. My other option is the implant and continued use of the meds, the wife is more inclined with the later option.

Re: Advice
As far as what can be done, unfortunately, you got the stark news. There just isn't that much that can be done. If the pills, injections, and pumps don't work for you, or you don't like them, then the implant is the only other route. Well, there is a lot of experimentation going on right now with stem cells and platelet rich plasma injections. I had platelet rich plasma injected into my penis back in November and I'm having it done again next week. The basic idea behind it is that the plasma contains stem cells which have the ability to repair and regenerate tissue. So far this hasn't worked out well, and I doubt I'll get better results with the upcoming injections, but the doctor doing offered to give me more for no additional cost. Maybe you could look into that, but like I said, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Re: Advice
You're on the same journey that most of us here are on. When all other options have failed it's healthier to accept the prognosis and work with it rather than rail against it. You can get an erection with a vacuum device, but IMO the VED is a very unsatisfactory option. While the decision to have surgery is not a trivial one, the odds are overwhelming that your condition can be treated successfully with an implant. If you don't like what you're hearing from your urologist, get a second opinion. But don't be drawn in by quacks promising a solution through some obscure procedure or medication. There are no "secret cures."

Topdog,
I'm not an expert on any of this but I would like to leave you with one suggestion. Don't table this due to indecision then do nothing. Due to inactivity over long periods{ years} you loose a lot of your size. No natural cycling. That happened to me.
