People who had Titan and AMS LGX700 , which is better?

Postby Membrillo » Thu Feb 19, 2015 1:59 pm

Hello, for those who have had the two prosthesis, which one do you think is better?

Good question membrillo, also I want to know if it true that the Titian doesn't have the antibiotic coating that the AMS does.

Titan and AMS both have antibiotic coatings.

I'm not sure if this is the right way to think of it. Neither one is "better" than the other. If properly installed by a competent doctor, and if there are no complications resulting from your body's specific reaction to an implant, you will get the exact same result: an erection whenever you want for as long as you want. It's true that the LGX is designed to expand more when it is inflanted, but this shouldn't affect your end result size; it just means that you will be more retracted in the flaccid state.

I just posted a reply to Implant Failure and then read this thread. My post there is particularly on point here so I will copy that message here...

"5 years ago I had a LGX implanted. I had the choice between the LGX and the Titan. My doctor is very experienced… maybe 4000 implants. He recommended the Titan. I chose the LGX because:

• I was told by the AMX sales rep that the increased girth potential of the Titan would probably not be achieved because most penises would not take the wider cylinders.

• I want more length and assumed that the expandability of the LGX would give me greater length OR it might be help with a situation where the surgeon undersized me.

Up until recently my experience with the LGX has been good overall. When I could eventually get it fully inflated it would stay hard and my penis was stiff and very usable. I had good girth.

BUT.. I have always had problems inflating. The bulb is very hard and it takes at least 50 depressions to work. Worst.. the pump requires a "reset" which is obtained by a very hard and quick squeeze for the first pump. If your are lucky you will feel a "pop" which indicates that you have done the "reset". If you do not get this you can pump forever and not get inflation. Unfortunately there is no easy way to know you are failing. You can pump away hoping you can pump your way thru this problem. When it dawns on you that you are getting no where you need to do a full deflation and try again for the reset. Complicating this process is that you might have a partial inflation and you do not want to lose your gains thru deflation.

One thing became obvious to me. This is not something you do after you have gotten your woman aroused. This is a major effort. So I learned to get all of his done way before. This means walking around with a erection and hoping it is not showing. The way I dealt with it is to pump up and leave it erect for days. I accepted the risk of showing a bulge and perhaps wearing out my implant prematurely. This did not seem likely since if anything I was putting less stress on the pump and I think the cylinders are bullet proof.

Summary to this point… The LGX works, the pump will work enough to get my erect with a lot of effort and certainly not spontaneous. But I have a great penis and if I can deal with the bulge I was OK.

THEN one day I deflated and I could not get the pump to work. Without all the details it was decided I need a revision and I could choose between the LGX or the Titan.

I choose the Titan over another LGX. Here is why:

• I am told that my penis will accommodate the thicker cylinders of the Titan.. 21mm vs 18mm of the LGX when fully expanded. If true this means that my girth circumference might increase as much as 3/4". This would bring me to 6" girth and I want that. This is now more important to me than my length.

• The bulb on the Titan appears to be softer and has more capacity for depression. I believe that I might get by with half of the depressions. More important I not aware of this "reset" phenomena. This means I do not have to walk around with a permanent erection.

• My doctor has the ability to properly size me so I do not need the expandability of the LGX.. (so I hope!) If I can encourage him to "cram" it in and I take the risk of erosion then I can do this without loss of length. I know my doctor and I he will probably ignore me and do what he thinks is best. So in reality I am just trusting he will not short me. And this is the way it should be. Having said all of that, I am prepared to have a shorter penis if I can get a thicker penis that can be pumped up more easily. I am betting I will not be shorter.

BOTTOM LINE: the LGX is fine if can accept the pumping issues. I think the Titan is better because I will have thicker penis which can be called upon spontaneously. While the LGX was stiff enough I think the Titan will be even harder. Not sure I care about that now. But I suppose that is nice.

BTW I am not blaming anybody for these issues. Stuff happens. So I do not leave a bad impression let me clear… getting an implant is the smartest thing I have ever done. No matter which device you choose you will be a winner. "

Sorry for the duplication.. but I think my experience can be informative.

It seems opinions are as varied as choices in surgeons who do the procedure. I thought for sure I wanted the LGX for the same reasons as I have heard many times, the chance that it might make up for an under sizing on cylinder length. After talking at length with the surgeon and his assistant, I will be having a Coloplast Titan Touch implanted in one month. Here's how it was explained to me. First, he likes the polymer material of the Coloplast better, and he said his patients are much happier with the pump, saying it was both easier to use as well as more comfortable. He said the polymer cylinders never stop expanding, with girth getting greater as time goes on. He assured me that they do not under size the corporal measurements, and if the measurements come out in between a full cm, the go up to the next full cm on the total length. I left his office convinced he has my best interest in mind and am looking forward to a good outcome.

Dr. Martin Dineen, Daytona Beach, FL. It is my understanding that his practice was instrumental in developing the 8 week VED protocol prior to implant.

Kentruss, that is an outstanding reply to the original posters question. And as a brand new AMS 700 LGX recipient, I found it valuable too. I go bionic in one week... can't wait.
RP: Sept. 2011, pathology: small tumor, 3+3, fully contained. One nerve removed, the other badly damaged, result: near total ED. PSA 3 years out: undetectable. AMS 700 LGX implant: 1/21/15. Current status (3/4/15): Now bionic, working on restoring size.

61, Central Florida area, ED for two years. Scheduled for Coloplast Titan Touch implant March 23, 2015 in Daytona Beach.

FlaDon, I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004. My Implant Surgeon recommended the Titan for the same reasons you have listed above.
I would just like to share with you that, 7+ years Post-Implant, my wife and I could not be happier with the Titan and I would choose it again in a heart-beat!
I wish you a lifetime of enjoyment with your up-coming Titan Implant.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any non-medical questions or just want to talk.
Bob
