AMS Spectra Malleable Implant Experiences

Hello,

I'm seeing most people here have gone with a 3 piece implant, but due to numerous circumstances (don't want to go into detail) my only option is a 1 piece malleable (non-inflatable) implant, the surgeon recommended the AMS Spectra which is a semi-rigid implant.

I wanted to see if anyone had the AMS Spectra implanted and what are your experiences with it? Anyone with this device could you share you experiences, doesn't have to be AMS Spectra, users of other 1 piece non-inflatable devices please share you experiences.

I'm aware that the downside of this type of an implant is a permanent erection, but I can live with it as long as the erection quality is solid and I'm able to have normal sex. My biggest concern is this device being not rigid enough and too flexible, so that it bends during sex in a similar manner to having a 60-70% erection, thus penetration would be not possible or difficult. Are these issues realistic?

The surgeon is very reputable, and he was very confident this could resolve my ED. He said that the device will be implanted in such a way that it will not destroy the erectile tissue or any other tissues inside the penis, meaning if I changed my mind and decided that I want the device removed later on, my penis would be in the state it is right now pre-surgery. He also made promises that there will be no loss in length or girth.

Specially if doctor said that you will preserve
erectile tissue after operation.

the maximum diameter of each cylinder is 14 mm in the penis spectra :

14x2 = 28mm. As you can see the diameter of your penis would be 2.8 cm regardless of skin. The average diameter of an erect penis is about 4.5 cm. To see what diameter you you can use a measuring instrument such as a caliper.

I say this because you can maybe take a nasty surprise after being implanted . I will never understand because wider cylinders are not manufactured .

I am no expert on this but I believe in my reasoning. You can discuss this with your surgeon to see what he think .

+1. What you've been told doesn't sound right to me. Why not get a second opinion from an experienced, well regarded surgeon before you go ahead with this? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I'm not rushing into anything and will consult several experts in the field in urology before taking a drastic step.

If I understood the surgeon correctly, he said that he will implant the device so that I would retain the function of having a normal/organic erection. Since I'm able to get an erection which is too weak for sex
due to a venous leak, he stated that the implant will add rigidity and the two (normal erection and implant) will act together and result with a solid erection good enough for penetration, but
the implant should be sufficient by itself to have a strong erection for penetration. This way, it won't affect size since the erectile tissue will be intact, the goal of the implant would be to increase rigidity. I might've not understood him correctly 100%, what I described is the way I understood him.

I have sent him an e-mail to clarify all these issues, and I'm also seeking a second opinion from a very reputable urologist next week with whom I'll review everything that the other urologist/surgeon promised.

How rods could be inserted into the corpora spongiosum and then removed without causing damage is beyond me. Please have a consultation with somebody who knows what he's talking about. It seems to me that if you proceed with your plan you'll have a failed first procedure and then have no choice but to get an inflatable. in any case, please keep us posted on your journey.

I have had the ams spectra implant for over a year. Now I have the ams lgx. The semiridgid implant is very stone aged compared to the inflateble implant. Its flimsy a very bad erection and the springs in it get even flimsier in time. I know 2 other guys that have the same experiences. They hated the semiridgid implant. Don't even consider it. Believe me

my issue is also venous leaking and my urologist advised getting the 3 piece inflatable.
surgery is scheduled for july 2015.

I will not be getting the one piece implant after what I read here and the second opinion I got from another urologist. A 3 piece would be the best option by the looks of it. Leaning towards that option the most right now.
