If you can pee, you can flee

Postby Twanger » Sat Nov 07, 2015 11:42 am

I'm told after surgery and a short stint in recovery, you must be able to urinate successfully to be released to the waiting world outside. (My doc does not require an overnight stay) But I know from other surgeries, that's not always easy to do for some reason. Could you pee right away? What seemed to help get things going again? Would just as soon avoid the dreaded cath if possible.

Everyone is different. I can always pee within 30 min. Of Catholic being removed.

It was explained to me that you can generally pee quicker after general anesthesia, that spinal it might take a little longer, but I was also told that spinal relaxes the smooth muscles making an implant easier. I would guess it would depend on how fast your kidneys and liver can process and eliminate the anesthetic, another reason to lay off the booze and such so before surgery so they can operate at maximum rpm. d

Twanger, I had day surgery and went home with a catheter. Went back in the next morning about 8:00 AM they removed it and by noon I was urinating just fine.
