About a year ago a woman whose husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had surgery and was cured of cancer. Within a year of his surgery, he was so depressed about living with ED, he killed himself. I'm certain no one told him about the possibility of an implant.
When I was told I'd be impotent for the rest of my life (As a result of double nerve sparing prostate surgery) the doctor who told me this would be the same doctor who performed my implant surgery. However, at the time when he told me I'd be impotent for the rest of my life he DID NOT mention the possibility of an implant. I had to come up with the idea on my own after many months spent seriously depressed.
It's become a personal mission of mine to spread the word about implants. I was surprised to discover there were no groups or information about this topic. So I created a closed group. Due to Facebook advertising policies I'm unable to promote the group to gain members. So If anyone here is interested in joining a closed group to help others thinking about an implant, here's the link to the group. As I write this, I'm the only member. I'm looking to find a few people willing to help others on Facebook. Here's the link:

Spread the word about Implants
Re: Spread the word about Implants
Whilst the idea is good, nobody for understandable reasons will want to come forward on this on facebook, i hope you realise that. We can spread the word, on other places which are better and with much more effect. Reddit, imgur....
Re: Spread the word about Implants
The Facebook group is CLOSED. Meaning it has the same if not more privacy as this forum.
Re: Spread the word about Implants
It's all going to be public and with your personal name on it. Explain to me, how do you expect that people will want to join such a group. Please do.

Re: Spread the word about Implants
Why are so many men scared to go public about having ED now that there are so many ways to deal with it. I tell many people both men and women about what I have gone through and the response has only been positive. Many more women then you would think have husbands who deny anything is wrong and bury their collective heads in the sand to deny it and that only causes problems at home.
As they say guys, "Man Up" and deal with it. Yes it is hard to face the fact that some of us can no longer get a normal erection on our own but get fixed if possible. Would you rather never have an erection again or stay hard for hours and enjoy the time we have left with a very active sex life.
My story is here and explains what I went through getting to the point of the implant and the only regret I have is I didn't know about them and than waited. I ma not ashamed that people may know about my implant as my name is on YouTube with photos of after surgery and some more recent.
I will be posting my inflate video and deflate video on Youtube once done so others may learn.
Help others, your friends may have the same problem I did and maybe you can direct them to FrankTalk so they can read, see and learn how to help themselves.

Implanted March 2nd by Dr. Kramer with AMS/LGX. Had a problem lower left (scar tissue) and he placed a larger (thicker) implant as you can here on the YouTube video. Got all back, ED over 10 years before Implant.
Re: Spread the word about Implants
Well, in terms of opening up and sharing my story of getting implanted, I think I finish first, second and third. At least on FT.
Do I tell anyone else? No. My wife of course, but nobody else.
Would I put on Facebook that I have an inflatable penile prosthetics? Hell no.
It's not about me not wanting to help others. It is because I DO want to help others that I shared everything on FT.
But I don't want my friends, colleagues, business associates, neighbours etc to know.
I simply don't see any advantage of having all of them knowing.

Re: Spread the word about Implants
The problem about having the information on FT and nowhere else is getting the reader onto the FT site in the first place. The responsibility, in my opinion, on making someone with ED, either from a radical prostatectomy or diabetes or other issues, lies with the urologist who has either performed the operation or treated the ED. Sadly; urologists are extremely lacking in communication on these issues. My urologist was very good in answering my questions but I had to be my own advocate. He did, however, make me aware of implants early in the process.
Urologists and urology clinics have all of the information that exists on treatment of ED. They just have to be more pro-active on communication. I realize that anything that has to do with the penis freaks out even the most seasoned professional. There doesn't seem to be any training in that area in medical school to my knowledge.
So let's figure out how to train professionals in the social aspects of this syndrome. I'm not the one who would know just how to start that, but I'll bet that there are guys (and gals) out there who would be far wiser than myself in this area.
It is good that this dialogue has begun.

Re: Spread the word about Implants
I agree. While men should be aware of the option, and doctors should certainly tell them, I don't think a potentially public forum is a place to post about our personal situations. As far as Facebook is concerned, I could take a ten-foot pole, attach another ten-foot pole to it, and still wouldn't touch it.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.
Life is not the way it's supposed to be, it's the way it is.

I will have to second Merrix and dg_moore at this. Dirtman, your approach in this forum and in life towards this problem is outstanding, and you deserve all accollades no doubt. But, don't forget that there is still many people for which this is a taboo, and it would cause a lot of distress and even mockery and laughter if the peers of many of us knew. There is no going around that fact!
Like i said here before, and even tried to contact the admin on it, one of the best things we could do as a community would be to actively create and curate a wiki, just like wikipedia (there are free ones online) where there would be more direct access to all the information available in this board instead of having to navigate through pages and pages on certain threads.
That way, somebody new that comes in can be directed to the Wiki when he has questions that pertain the most commonly asked ones. (healing post op, shrinkage issues, best doctors, pain symptoms after implant surgery, best implant approach, best accommodations for X and Y doctor, best therapy to prevent shrinkage... etc..) just to give some examples.
Also, to raise awereness, we could create an infographic/flyer and post on mega popular sites like youtube, reddit, imgur, tumbler, and stuff like that. That way, nobody shares their personall information and we can still spread the word on what concerns ED and the best way to go for newbies.
