I'm going to weigh in here even though I don't have an implant (yet).

I'm 66 (single) and have had gradual ED for about 15 years.....during the course of those years I went from 1/4 of a pill up to a full dose of Viagra and Cialis....and they worked fine. My partners never knew and sex was great.....in Aug of 2015 the pills began to lose their effect, maybe I'm at 70% with them. I realized that I was on a downhill trend and began to research other remedies.....I had heard about implants and began searching the internet.....I came across videos and then found FrankTalk.....I read as much as I could, not only the current threads at the time but searched many past threads.....so I gleaned a lot of information. Once I had a basic knowledge of this area I decided to be proactive and explore the possibilities, which really boiled down to 2 things......injections and implant.....I really knew that I would ultimately want the implant but that I would go to the next step which would be injections.

Living in NYC I automatically made an appointment with Dr. Eid......after testing he determined that I have a venous leak and as per my request prescribed injections.....this took place at the end of Oct....now, without going into a lot of detail, my down time of the year when I have no responsibilities and don't have to work is a 3 month window.....Jan through March. I knew that I wanted the implant but I didn't want to rush in to it until I had more info and more experience with the injections. I really wanted to be certain about this so I decided to work and learn more for a year in advance.....The injections worked, sometimes better than other times but I felt it was a temporary fix (I also took 1/2 Cialis with it) and it really was a pain in the ass (or dick) to have to go through the procedure.

So what does this have to do with the topic?.....I have read FrankTalk like the bible (and I'm an atheist) for the past year and the one common sentiment (about 95% of what I read) was "I should have done this years ago"......strong with many people.....so, I have implant surgery scheduled for Jan 4 2017 which means that I basically waited 17 months (while still able to have ok sex in the interim) from the time that I realized that my ED was getting the better of me until the day I will have my surgery.....so basically I won't have any gap in being able to have sex until the surgery date.....of course the healing time is another story but that's ok....I don't want to have to say that I wish I had done it years ago (assuming it's a success).....I'm going on everybody else's experience with regard to the timing.
Implanted Jan 4 2017 by Dr. Eid - 70 yo and single...ED gradually over 15 yrs...tired of pills, injections, cock rings....happy with my choice and results. Titan OTR - one 20cm cylinder - one 20cm+1 RTE...."got a rocket in my pocket"....

Yes, this is my aim, too -- to minimize the time spent really suffering from the awful pain of ED.

I felt like a pretty healthy guy up until 41 when I got the big SURPRISE!!! of sudden onset ED, near castrate level low T, aortic stenosis, and coronary artery disease... OK those were a few surprises... Anyway my point is that with my incredibly crappy heart health I know that my ED, while mild for now, is only going to get worse, and that I almost certainly have a decade or two less to live than most people. So I don't want to waste any more time on having a limp dick and "tolerable" sex life than I absolutely have to.
Genetically sky-high Lp(a) of 390 led to various heart diseases. Ultra-low testosterone of 120 (now 480 with Clomid) also contributed to ED at age 41. Managing with daily Cialis, but for me, the implant is a "when", not an "if".
