Re: Fewer men getting implants now....
Why has the number of men seeking implants decreased by 50% over the past few years? Is it because of the rising cost? fears about dissatisfaction (loss of size/loss of sensitivity/device malfunction/droopy head/etc)? Some other reason?

That's good.

Implanted by Dr. Andrew Kramer 2/22/17. 18 cm AMS LGX with 2 cm RTE's (total 20cm).
Activated 3/11/17. Best decision I've ever made.

In my opinion it's the other way around: more and more men get an implant. That story can't be true.

Just hope the two implant manufacturers don't go out of business because of the 50% decrease in the number of men buying their devices. Just in case, now may be a good time to buy a spare implant device and stick it up on a shelf somewhere so that when your current implant breaks you will have one at the ready....

My general policy through the years is if I read something (news, research, etc.) that I haven't heard anywhere else, I always check it out before I consider it to be true.
(As I have pointed out to my 30-something sons, you have to know your source when reading something on the Internet. For example, I could set up a site, say that I have a Ph.D. in hieroglyphics (which I don't, of course), and start offering so-called "translations" of Egyptian stuff, and people would be quoting me.)

This sounds fishy to me. Unless I misread the article, it looks like the sample was based on Medicare patients 65 and older. I don't know the incidence of implantation among younger men, but from FT and other sources there seems to be no shortage of implantees a lot younger than 65. If you include that cohort in the study it could be that the statistics would skew the other way.

It could also be that other, less invasive means of mitigating E,D, are available and being used.

Lost Sheep][/quote] That was also my thought, Lost Sheep. Maybe we have better pills, better injections and better knowledge of treatments. But with population growth and information being available to us I find it hard to believe that there are less total implants being done today than 10 years ago.

born 1949, Cancer 2014, 1st Implant AMS CX 18 + 3 RTE, Oct 2015 by a Houston Doctor. Left with loss of length, Floppy Glans and pain, a very poor job. Revision in Dec 2016 by Dr. Kramer, 21 + 3 1/2 RTEs, LGX, Regained length, Glans supported and no pain.

It would be interesting to know how many devices AMS and Coloplast sell each year. That would give a much better picture as to how many men are getting implants. I never have seen those numbers and they likely are trade secrets. But, if anyone knows them or how to find them, I would like to see them.
