My first implant failed after about 3 1/2 years. The second failed after about 14 1/2 years. Both were the AMS Ultrex. This third is an AMS LGX, which is supposedly an improvement over the Ultrex. The only differences I notice is that it now comes covered with an antibiotic and the one-touch pump. I prefer the older pump, because it is smaller than the present one and therefore more comfortable. The one-touch is touted as being more convenient, but I don't see it that way. They all came with lifetime guarantees. This means the replacement unit itself is covered, but all other costs are on you and the insurance company.
I'm 75 and got an AMS Ultrex in 1995. Had it replaced in 1999. Got a new AMS 700 LGX in 2013.
