Thanks Jubaman. Great post! It will be very interesting to hear from both of you about the Ambicor 2-piece. I know that the pump for the LGX felt HUGE at first, but like everything else it became a natural part of me within a few months. I too squirmed a lot and "readjusted" constantly for months after my implant. Keep writing and please feel free to ask questions. All your friends at FT will be there for you. Aside from any residual pain, this is an exhilarating experience and many things in your life will soon change for the better. LGX_Man

Just a short status update.

Today is the 9th day post surgery and I'm doing pretty well. Scrotal swelling is almost gone. The only real issue is discomfort with the pump. It's way down at the bottom of my sac, right in the middle. I really have to be careful sitting down and its also uncomfortable standing without some good support. Seeing my doctor today and looking forward to hearing instructions for phase 2.

Jub:

A thought on place of the pump with the boys. Now, I don't have an implant so just think with this. On this Board is a post by Keith (LGX-Man) called underwear that is fun to wear- I think. Look at those undies. They may be the ticket to keeping everyone happy by the way they hold the 3 musketeers. The pouch looks as though it will conform and support and keep everyone in line. It will probably provide more support and "protection" as you sit and move.

Just a thought. They are not cheap- but comfort during this time is worth a lot and Keith, who has an implant ,appears to be very happy with them.

Good luck with the continued recovery!

Dick

Thanks, Dick. I'll check it out.

BTW, because it was discussed a couple of times, I asked my doctor about the size of the prosthesis he put in. It was 20cm plus 3cm rear tip extention. He said everything looks great. So now I need to wait the four weeks till I see him again and can actually use my new toy :D

Another quick status update.
It's now 2 weeks plus one day, and I'm feeling really good. Swelling has pretty much disappeared, and it seems that my testicles have gotten used to their roomate -- no problems sitting down. Stitches seem to be starting to disolve.

My penis also looks pretty normal although it is still slightly erect, but it is generally pointing in a downward direction making it much easier to pee. I've also been able to masturbate and climax successfully ( :D ) with my partial erection. I'm really looking forward to Oct. 7 (my next doctor's appointment) when I get to try out my new toy. BTW, Jocky Pouch Boxer Briefs are great!

But at this point I'm a happy camper!

Here is an update on my Ambicor.
Two weeks ago I had a fever for a few days. I went on antibiotics. After that my scrotum swelled up. I was taking a shower and I noticed puss draining out by the incision. My doctor didn't act too alarmed about it, saying that it was probably due to my body reacting to the suture material.
My 6 week check was supposed to be Sep 16. Now I am waiting until Sep 27. The swelling and puss draining are gone, but I'm still not feeling very comfortable. The semi-erection is a pain. It sticks straight out and is hard to conceal. I'll be glad when this is over.

Robbin, it really sounds like an awful ordeal. I know that infection seems to be the thing that the docs are most concerned about in terms of post op issues. I'm sure that the inflammation and stress on your body to fight the infection is a large part of why you're still uncomfortable. Hopefully you're on the home stretch to recovery now.

Good luck, man.

I've been extremely tardy in posting a status update, and it's now 8+ weeks since my implant, so I think I'm at a good point report results and give an assessment.

As I indicated in earlier posts, my surgery and early recovery went pretty well -- certainly on the easier end of the spectrum compared to some reports in these forums. This has essentially continued. Pain and discomfort has more or less disappeared, the pump in my scrotum is now a non-issue, and my penis now looks normal and close to (but not identical to) pre-op.

At just shy of 6 weeks, I had my follow on visit with the (male) nurse at my doctor's office and who showed me how to use the pump. I've mentioned in previous posts that one feature of the Ambicor is the small number of pumps required, and this is absolutely true. The first few times it was a challenge to squeeze the bulb -- it required a good grip and a fair amount of pressure, but after only 5 pumps, I was standing at attention, nice and firm. In fact, you really can't go much beyond that number because the bulb gets too hard to squeeze.

I've never been a huge guy, just shy of 6" on a good day (and the last good day was several years ago), and I'm happy to report that length-wise, I'm back to full mast. My initial impression was that I lost some girth, however -- it just seemed a little thinner than before. On the other hand, lately it's been looking like it's been filling out a bit more -- I don't know if it's my imagination or whether things are just continuing to adapt.

The wonderful news is that sex has been GREAT! Being freed of the emotional and psychological worries about maintaining an erection has been incredibly liberating. When we make love there's no rush. We can take our time and really enjoy things -- it's been many years since we've been like this. So right now, I'm thinking that this was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

A few more words about the Ambicor. The pumping has gotten easier and I’ve improved my technique do so – an erection in 5 pumps is a reality. So far, I’d say the biggest downside to the Ambicor is that your penis never gets totally flaccid. It works with less fluid than a three piece implant so the only part of the shaft that really fills is the lower half of the penis. The upper half remains fairly firm. On the plus side, it means that my non-erect penis appears larger than it used to be, but it also means that it needs to be adjusted more often when sitting and changing positions. I’m told that things will continue to improve over the next several months, but I’m pretty sure it’ll never be 100% normal when it’s “at rest”.

Not really a problem, but an unusual aspect of the device is that to deflate it you need to bend or fold your erect penis down at an almost 90% angle and hold it that way for 12-15 seconds. I know that sounds painful but it really isn’t – just odd. Do so causes the fluid to retract back into the rear (internal part of the device) and the penis then hangs downward and is softer to the touch in the lower half.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a very small price to pay in comparison with the benefits. Being ever-ready is a godsend, and, based on my experiences thus far, I would highly recommend it!
