I had a disscussion with my implant doctor at my 8 month final followup visit about scar tissue. He said that I didn't need to cycle it once or twice a day as I was doing but it needed to be cycled at least once a week for now on as scar tissue will build up as the body's natural response to foreign objects, in this case the cylinders and the resevoir, he said that these two units can get bound up if they are left alone. I agree with Keith about the 12 weeks, I had my first cycle at about 2-3 weeksand I did little ones till "activation" then I started the max inflations. I had spots along the shaft that then were painful but the cycling finally cured that. I think you have to find a way to start cycling. I am hoping you can work this out.

age 74 married, Robotic RP Dec.2009. Implanted Jan 2011 with AMS 700LGX and AMS 800 AUS. (AMS 1500). IPP failed March 2018 , leak. Planning an AUS revision (total replacement) in 2018, now I need the IPP too.

That's right Ron. Inflate as often as possible and USE IT. I cannot emphasize this enough. Perhaps if I should put it in big bold type the point might be made. Without USING THE IMPLANT, it will quickly surround itself with Scar Tissue. Think of scar tissue as a drying cement patio. Once it's dry, it's solid. Same goes with scar tissue, once it surrounds the operated area, it becomes solid.
I can't imagine why someone would put themselves through this operation and then NOT use it?!?! But seriously, even if you just use it on your own, it needs to be used often! for at least the first 18 months.

LGX_Man wrote:Rich. Perhaps I'm confused but did you actually wait until 12 weeks to start inflating your implant? Your doctor should have started you inflating at 6 weeks or earlier. My doctor had me inflating my LGX at 10 days post-op. If you waited til 12 weeks my guess is that you've got quite a bit of scar tissue build-up. The reason that the docs have us start using it earlier is so that we can "work it" and keep it going while the scar tissue is forming all around the implant and all area that were touched by the surgery. This is of UTMOST importance. My implant was pretty much surrounded with scar tissue at 3 months post-op. Suggestion, grin and bear the pain but get that thing going post-haste. If not, you will not be able to use it. That old saying "use it or lose it" may just be what might happen here if you don't use it soon. If you're having trouble pumping it and need the "double-handed inflation" instructions, please write back and give me your email address so that I can send it along to you. Best of luck. Thanks Keith really appreciate everyones help, actually when I saw my doctor at week 6 he messed around with it and told me that if he tried to pump it up it would send me "through the roof" and he told me too just try at home when I felt I was ready, well at about 7 weeks or so I decided I needed to try it pain or whatever so I did and the pain lasted after deflation for at least 4 days, now I'm really beginning to wonder if the doctor has caused this problem by not going ahead and inflating at 6 weeks. He acted like there was no hurry but Now I'm really worried that I will have to try and deal with the pain and just pump it up as much as I can.

I have read so much now and I have little doubt that you are correct, I only wish I would have checked this site out a long time ago, no one knows unless they have been through it. Thanks for your help and I will keep you all posted on this and hopefully this will help a future implante.

Re: 12 weeks post implant PAIN
There's one other thing I beleive I need help on, when you deflate how much pressure do you really need ?, when I do it it is very painful just to push and hold the button for 5 sec. and I'm not sure if it really deflates much, with the pain of inflation it's really hard to actually squeeze the penis to remove the fluid and I really feel it's not really deflating much because I still have a pretty good stiffy.
Re: 12 weeks post implant PAIN
As i posted before, please tell us what condition your implant was in for the first 6ish weeks post surgery. Doctors will partially inflate and leave it inflated during the healing so that this does not happen and tubes do not stick. The first boner I ever had lasted me 10 weeks haha.
Diagnosed with ED at age of 19, Implanted with Coloplast Titan at age 20. Now 34 (2023)
Titan failed 09/2020, replaced on 10/2/2020 by Kolher @ Mayo Clinic in Minnesota

Re: 12 weeks post implant PAIN
Rich, for me, I just push the button hard enoght for it to "pop" into the deflate mode. It will deflate by itself no squeezing necessary to deflate to the point of no pressure, there will be fluid left in the cylinders and I will still be a little plump. IF I want the max flacid state I will squeeze it while holding the button. I have an idea for what we all seem to have diagnosted as scar tissue that needs to be streched. Maybe at night before you go to bed just give it a pump or two , not to the point of real pain and leave it all night then every night do the same thing trying to gain a couple of pumps till you can "break it loose"? OR possibly you can be anesthesized ,locally or general and the doc can do it while you are asleep. humm that sounds a little crazy? Maybe the best route would be to call AMS, there is a lady there that serves a customer service rep. that others have spoken to and they have said she can be very helpful. I would guess that AMS has heard it all and would know how to get you out of this mess. I hate to say it but however it is done, it will probably be painful.

Yes it was partially inflated but to what extent I don't know, to tell you the truth I don't think it has ever been completly deflated because it's always pointing straight out and almost always feels like it's being stretched. I'm beginning to think my problem may be thats it's not deflating or deflating very little after I activate and then deactivate, maybe thats why the pain lasts for days after.

Thanks Ron I agree and will start trying that tonight, I do see the doc next week and I'm really going to push him to find out whats going on, if nothing else maybe I can get some pain killers to use when I do pump it up.
