LGX vs CX length options

Postby bill1200 » Fri Oct 07, 2011 10:27 am

Had pre op yesterday. After reading the post about limited length options for the CX, I asked the urologist specifically about that question. He told me that they BOTH can be adjusted with extenders. That he personally takes that into consideration in the OR, after measuring the corpora in both directions. If he is still faced with a choice of slightly long or slightly short based on the persons anatomy he always ops up in size, whether it is with std length or with extenders. As stated elsewhere, there are two diameter options, 18 and 22mm. He routinely prefers, and uses the 22mm, unless there is a reason to only be able to fit the 18mm.
He re-measured me with the stretch at the office and still plans to go with the CX, 22mm, length to be determined at surgery. So, 3 days from now, barring any last minute snafu, to the OR for me.
BTW, Blue Shield denied the procedure. So, at this point it is out of pocket, roughly $19,000. We will go round and round with BS, but I,m not optomistic. Cheers, Bill.

I am sure that the maximum diameter for AMS CX - LGX is 18 mm, not 22.
12mm deflated to 18 mm inflated. Only Coloplast have +21 mm diameter.

After research on my own, I believe you are correct. I will straighten this out Tuesday, don't know how I misunderstood him.Sorry for the bad info. The smaller version is called CXM and only inflates to 14.5 mm. The std CX inflates up to 18mm
