This site has been a terrific help to me. I had increasing ED for years, and the pills worked well for quite a while. Then slowly the erections wouldn't last, and then they would sometimes not appear. My wife was very "understanding" and supportive -- but of course women can't understand it all. The cycle of depression-ED-depression-... Is brutal.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 1/17 and had a robotic RP 3/17. Lost over an inch off my already small dick, and zero erections. Tried pumping to rehabilitate and injections for rehab and intercourse. Was barely successful twice, but highly un-satisfying foe either of us. The pain with the trimix was terrible, the bimix not so bad.

So I finally bit the bullet and scheduled a consultation and surgery with Dr. Kramer on August 1 and 2. He said to stop the pumping and only inject for lovemaking, not re-hab. I know a lot of guys (and their doc's) recommend pumping prior to surgery, but I'm going with another piece of advice that I've read here many times -- Trust your doctor and follow his or her directions. Think of how much trust we are placing in these surgeons for the implantation. I'm not going to try to second guess him.

Going on two week vacation starting next week. Vacation typically means sex every day. Wondering what the little vials and syringes will deliver.... The big day will be two weeks after I return. I am excited and nervous as hell.

All of the sharing that goes on here helped me make the decision that was inevitable sooner rather than later. The recurring theme of "only regret is that I didn't do it years earlier" got me to move. Have to admit, the recurring theme that the first week or more may be worse than no fun at all scares me. Sounds like the recovery will be more intense than that from the prostatectomy. But the results should be well worth it.

Still hard to believe I am actually going through with this. And thanks to all who helped me get this far.

Glad you're scheduled with Dr. Kramer. We can compare notes here before, during and after. Wish you the best.

Bob

Bob, the first week was the worst for me, but heck, it wasn't debilitating or anything like that. I just kept taking pain pills every 4 hours, amd really didn't feel too much. The worst was in the morning after having gone all night without pain pills. My sack ached where the pump was. I'll be completely honest though, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Now just over three weeks, things are going very well. All the best.

Thanks Ed.

I've been following your journal, and it has been very helpful. All the best to you.

(Still nervous. Hope to put it out of my mind during the vacation, but really, what guy can not think about his dick at least a hundred times a day? Especially w/ ED, and the promise of a bionic cure.)

Bob,

I was nervous right up to the time the gave me the narcotic intravenous before they rolled me to the operating room. I was out before I got in there. Powerful stuff. Yeah man, I'm bionic, and you will be soon. We do think about our dicks a lot don't we.

Hey DCMus

You"re doing the right thing since you mentioned that you "screwed"up with the doses. Also you are losing size and length which hopefully you can regain with the implant. I had to go for the implant for the same reason. I waited too long: however, my wie and I are pleased with the results.

Best for a speedy recovery with a great result!

Definitely go ahead. You will have questions and second thoughts all the way up to when you first get to use your new bionics. Then they go away.

I was implanted about 4 1/2 years ago and it has been well worth it. I have had a malfunction and will most likely need to have a revision. Now I am looking forward to it but still with questions. I still don't have mine scheduled, but it will not be too long.

I am 70, had a radical prostatectomy in 2000; injected for 12 years until that method failed; then implant. Should have done it sooner. Have a CT scan scheduled for 7/5 with a urologist visit immediately following. Expect to schedule the revision as soon as possible after that.

Hang in there, it can only get better with hard times on the way.
