3 Days and Counting - 8/18/2017 is D Day 2

Postby radiodec » Tue Aug 15, 2017 4:01 pm

Just was at my urologist for my prostate cancer check. At this point he went over what will happen during my revision surgery.

He will remove the old pump and cylinders and leave the old reservoir as it has an abdominal placement and it is better to just leave it with the tubing cut as short as possible.

After all the old hardware that is being removed has gone away, he will thoroughly disinfect the area and put in new cylinders, pump, and reservoir. I don't think I will be any less sore from this procedure as he will be making a new pocket for the pump as well. My reservoir will move from the right to left side.

Surgery 2:30 PM on 8/18/2017. Then just heal and wait till I can get back to enjoying things. So now you have the synopsis of a revision as done by my surgeon with an AMS device. Probably the LGX model.

Great David. It will be here soon enough. I know you have been waiting for this.

A question about the LGX. Do you think that pumping it past 30 might have contributed to the failure of the pump? At three weeks of pumping, I am up to 25. I have already gained an inch back. And at 25 it is rock hard. I have heard from another member that his doctor told him he should never need to pump past 30 with the LGX. So I'm wondering if I need to pump any more than 30 times.

I wished that my doctor had cut the tubing a little shorter, as I can lay the pump on it's side at the bottom of my sack. I can see the tubing a lot of the time. I guess in one way its good, because I can position the pump where I want when I pump it up, but I can see the bend in the tubing because of the excess length of it.

I have always followed my urologist's directions and pumped up the implant till I cannot pump it any more, like with an old-fashioned bicycle tire pump. And it cannot be over-pumped and explode -- which is a good thing! ;)

As you know, i have the LGX also. Im pumping way past 30 pumps. When cycling i can sometimes double that to 60. Granted that after the 25-30 the pumps are not full pumps however i can feel more fluid goin in. Gets rock hard & sore. Can feel it stretching. I squeeze & stretch out with my hand after every 10 pumps. I like to get to an hour but im happy at 45-50 minutes. Kinda like Donnies routine. I been pumping for 8 weeks. I also have gained about an inch. BTW 30 pumps is good for sex. Tried to put in 40 two nights ago. Wife was riding me like Seabiscuit reverse cowgirl & after a while felt like she was tearing my skin off. I ll stick with 30 til i toughen up !

Radio, it is worth the wait and discomfort. You are only a little ahead of my round two. If it weren't for insurance delays I would have been done on 8/4.

Not as nervouse this time, more anxious to get it done. One more day of work and then!
