Totally understand but you just saw a resident for the first time...that's all I've seen and a resident did my entire surgery and I wasn't informed of this. I agree with waiting but I would like to ask a real doctor some questions and I also want to discuss the breakdown in communication pre-op and post-op. I wasn't given any information at all about what to expect and that's not acceptable to me. For instance, I went on a trip after inflating and couldn"t deflate because I had not been given good instructions or practice by an intern....so I went 3 very painful days with a semi-rigid erection. I finally got to a VA ER, in real pain and got help as well as excellent instruction on deflation.

I just want to talk to a real doctor (all I"ve ever seen is 3 interns - not even consistency with interns)...thanks for all of your advice. I'm not panic-ing now because of you guys but I still have questions. I think a good doctor would be concerned enough to meet with patients. I hope that happens. I'm working on it.

I have always been able to see the actual surgeon, but you have to pretty much insist on this and stand your ground. If you can't get the cooperation right off the bat, go to the patient advocates office and make a lot of noise. I recently couldn't get the attention I needed regarding my disability benefits and I contacted the office of Congresswoman Sue Myric http://myrick.house.gov/. 5 days later the VA was responding and begging me to let them help.

Sometimes you've really got to be a squeaky wheel to get greased! Start at the URO's office, next the advocates office, then the congresswomans office if needed. I'm there all the time, if you will PM me some information about who your doctor is, I will mention this to my doctor (not the resident) and see if I can help. Good Luck, and don't lose your head. Sometimes you just have to persist until you get what you need.

UPDATE - Re: I had Surgery Oct 8 and regretting it

Postby terryneal » Fri Dec 16, 2011 12:00 pm

I'm now at about 3 months since surgery and have been faithfully done the 2x day for 15 minutes pumping. However I have learned that the best way to correct the drooping is to bring the penis up and leave it there as much as possible during the day. Also frequent massaging to break up the healing tissues and allow the erection to stretch (hopefully) further. Unfortunately Dr did not tape to the belly post op or inflate; I think his not doing this contributed to the issues I'm having. We'll see.
