Question for Implanted Bicylists
Re: Question for Implanted Bicylists
B-velo, in my case it was probably over 3 months before I could ride at all seriously again. But my recovery from surgery was very slow: I was pretty much confined to home for 7 weeks, and not through any fault of the surgeon. After that, resumption of pedalling was itself a gradual process of trial, error and rest/recovery when things hurt. I've been getting back into it very gradually, partly because I've started from a low base and partly because of age: I'd rather build slowly than have to stop altogether through injury. Aiming at a 210km day ride come October this year, and be damned if I don't do it.
Melbourne, Oz. Radical prostatectomy & titan implant at 60. Size uncertain, but big enough to hang onto. Nah, it's huge!

Re: Question for Implanted Bicylists
Good luck on getting back at it! I have a heart condition as well, so I won't ever get back to where I was I suppose, but I really won't quit the sport. I'm doing pretty well on recovery now, but I guess I won't know until I sit on the saddle and ride around a bit.

Re: Question for Implanted Bicylists
I am no cyclists but for those that are and for some reason can not cycle the way the use to what at some of the bikes I see on tv that have different programs and a screen or computer that put you in differant parts of the world? My thinking with one of those you still enjoy it, butwhen you get tired or some discomfort you could stop and rest and not have to worry about getting home. I know it would not be exactly the same , but we are not exactly the same anymore either.
I could see rowing having the same problems. If I ever slow down from all my physical stuff I do I start walking again

Those programs work a bit for winter, but I can't stick to 'em long term. If for some reason I can't find a good saddle/position to ride with, I'll probably buy a recumbent bike. I'd have taken my bike out already if it weren't raining and chilly all the time, so I think it's good for me to wait, haha.

Update...
Since I wrote this post I have healed from implant surgery and started riding again. I actually found it isn’t much different from before. I ended up just getting ga padded seat cover and I am totally comfortable. My balls are small and sac is tight, but I can see forguys with big balls, especially lowhangers, if the pump is more flexible than mine there may he some discomfort.
I am wearing my same old bike shorts and I do show a bigger bulge, but I am comfortable being seen in them. For those who are very modest you can always put on some lose gym shorts over the bike shorts. My flaccid length is 5” and I can dress with it down or off to the side. It’s not very comfortable straight up.
