Medicare and implants, One-Piece Malleable.
Medicare and implants, One-Piece Malleable.
Hi, in the last few years my Doctor has tried pills ,a pump, and injections but when I had colon rectal cancer and they gutted me to cut it out they must have removed too much as nothing has worked. Now my Doctor is recommending a penile implant. I have Medicare Parts A and B , will Medicare cover the cost ? If anyone has any info I would really appreciate as I could never afford it on my own. " EDIT " Well I have scheduled my Implant surgery for March 6th 2012 I decided on the one piece A.M.S. Malleable Implant as I dont really want tubes resavoirs pumps etc. in me as I have already enough scars and lumps from other Surgerys and the One-piece Malleable sounds pretty simple. My Doctor said he hasn't done a One-piece one for a long time but that he did lots of them when he worked at the Veterans Hospitol . I am really SCARED thinking about the Surgery but I Haven't had a Hard On that was any good for approx 2 1/2 years and my wife has a beautiful body plus is about 25 years younger than me and boy do I miss making Love to her, she says it's Up to me about the surgery but she always got right with the program before, and hell I am only 65 years young. Any guys out there to give me good word on one-piece Malleabl Implant ? Thanks John H, Retired Carpenter in Oregon

Re: Medicare and implants
Welcome John,
Medicare covers the cost of a Penile Implant since it is considered a Medically Necessary Procedure and not a
Cosmetic Procedure. Medicare typically covers 80% of the Cost and if you have Supplemantal Medicare Insurance it will pay the balance. Almost every Penile Implant Surgeon has an "Insurance Expert" on staff who can tell you exactly what your
out of pocket cost will be (if any).
I had my Penile Implant done in 2007 with Medicare as my Primary Insurer and UnitedHealth Care as my Supplemental
Insurer. My out of pocket cost was ZERO.
Hope this is of some help.
Best of Luck.
Bob
