Confused About Post-op

Postby Vagabond127 » Wed Mar 07, 2018 6:17 pm

You would think I would know this...BUT...the first time I met with Dr. Eid I was confused and nervous. He made no mention of stitches removal. After care. Check function etc. No need to go back from north central CT and back to NYC . I WILL be asking these questions during my general visit on March 29th.

I had self-dissolving stitches in my incisions (implant and scrotal webbing removal) and there were a few remaining threads when I went for my activation. My surgeon pulled them at that time. I could easily have done it myself but thought they were supposed to go away on their own so didn’t even try. Your doc may not have brought it up because your stitches will also be self-dissolving. You will get aftercare instructions when you have surgery.

Would post-op instructions require going back to my surgeon? Did you stay nearby a few days for any complications? How about first pump and cycling? I will be asking these questions to Dr. Eid but I have family members who need to know how long after care may keep me in New York for. Plus hotel etc.

The Dr. Eid staff will provide you with a packet of instructions. You don’t need to go back to him if you can’t. I did it because my son lives there, so I stayed 2 weeks for the post-op. However, if you cannot do it, they will refer you to the doctor in your area to remove the stitches (he does not use the dissolvable ones so you can do hot baths at the third day), and to evaluate the healing process.

Dr Eid told me that the stitches could be removed by a local doctor, or if I want I could go back to New York to remove them, but that is not necessary

I called Dr Eids office today regarding post-Op care. They made it sound like "yeah when the time comes". But I pressed. Some woman Ruby will be calling me later.

Based on my experience with them, they will provide you all the information based on a timeline protocol. In other words, a month before they will email you X information, and a week before Y. But, once you have the surgery scheduled, you are in your perfect right to ask for something in advance.
