In my case the doctors at UCLH wanted to make sure I had exhausted all avenues before going down the implant route. Although it has prolonged the process significantly, as a 27 year old you will require numerous revisions in your lifetime which can bring with it complications. Although it is frustrating I do believe it is prudent to make the implant a last resort, as it is permanent and can't be reversed....just my opinion. You are right though, I could have gone down the private route but can't afford the costs to do this and the doctor's are the same e.g. Ralph does both private and NHS.
My surgeon will be Dr Muneer as he was the one I was initially referred to. He and Dr Ralph work in the same clinic though and I made sure to check that he is high volume

What you say about revisions is true. You’d most likely need at least 3 if you were to live a full life. But who knows how tech is going to advance. One thing is for sure. It will advance and so too will the safety procedures and methods surrounding implantation.
I do believe multiple revisions, if done correctly, won’t introduce complications. I think a man in your shoes should be given the choice, not told to go through several other treatments because it is the one with the highest success and satisfaction rate and you’d be able to finally get on with your life.
I’m really happy for you though, mate, that you’re on the path! Don’t worry about revisions so much. Just keep your eyes on the prize - you’ll be able to have natural-looking and feeling erections on demand and be able to rely on your dick!!!!!
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.

Re: 26 y/o considering implant
Finally received my implant surgery date for 31st May, nervous but excited after nearly 10 years of not having a proper erection!
I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone could answer
1) I have a big exam on the 23rd June for work, so c.3 weeks post implant....in those 3 weeks am I likely to be able to revise and sit an 6 hour exam on the 23rd?
2) I am going to Vegas 22nd August and am hoping to be fully healed and hopefully able to use my new implanted penis.....is this realistic 2.5-3 months post surgery?

First, let me say how happy I am for you to have a surgery date and finally get this behind you.
Now, regarding your exam three weeks after you get your implant. By that point I was feeling pretty good, but still was tender at the incision site. Some guys go back to work at desk jobs by that point so I think you will be OK. I still found it far more comfortable to sit in a soft upholstered chair, but when I thinking of sitting for an exam I always recall hard chairs. For me that would probably have been uncomfortable. By chance do you ride a bike and own bike shorts with the padding built into them? I wear them when I ride and it helps remove pressure from the pump in my sac contacting the hard seat. That my help you, too. The other thing some guys claim having to urinate more soon after surgery. I did not.
As for Vegas and sex, I would think a big YES. I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon at 4 weeks and in that day he said everything looked great and I was cleared to start cycling the implant and masturbate. He asked me to wait until 5 weeks for sex. Exactly at 5 weeks my wife and I had sex. The only thing was I pumped as hard as I could get and neither my wife or I enjoyed it. I deflated to about 75-80% and everything worked great. The first few times I could feel the cylinder tips pressing against my glans, but I still enjoyed it and had a great orgasm. The best part though was it was the first time in decades I really took my wife to her happy place.

I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Thanks Greg, really appreciate the feedback. The exam will be on some old wooden chairs like you said so good advice to get some padding or something to make it more comfortable. Can't wait to get 10 years of hell behind me and actually look forward to having sex rather than being an anxious mess everytime the opportunity to have it comes around!
Thanks again

I know the feeling of hell you referred to. My trip with ED was 30 years. I truly am happy for you that you will be taking care of yours soon.
