Not really, every anti-biotic works in a specific way, e.g. destabilizing cell membranes.
In the colon we do necessarily have different kind of bacteria which helps us in digesting food.
Specific anti-biotics do indeed attack the bacteria in the colon as well, which leads to an unbalanced population of bacteria in the colon which is the reason why some people react with instant diarrhea to antibiotic intake.
Though this usually normalizes after ceasing the anti-biotics.
The coating on the other hand should not have this effect, as it is just on the surface and not made to be transported and metabolized.
What to think of threads such as these?

ED since 2012
no medication works
considering implant (maybe with previous venous embolization for glans engorgement)

I think (being usually credulous) that this is not "Fake News", but simply incorrect/incomplete information. That is, not intentionally misleading. Just innocently wrong.
II agree that the antibiotics have to get INTO the colon to affect the microbiome IN the colon.jp3399 wrote:Not really, every anti-biotic works in a specific way, e.g. destabilizing cell membranes.

The antibiotics coated on the implant or used in irrigating the surgical site do not migrate (at least, not in significant amounts, if at all) away from the surgical site. So, do not get into the colon.
The person who reported, "the antibiotic coating of the implant eliminates good bacteria from your colon and causes harm to your body." probably just did not think it through and added one fact (oral antibiotics may affect gut bacteria which populates our body's beneficial microbiome) to another fact (antibiotics are introduced to the surgical site during the operation) to draw an incorrect conclusion. A case of one plus one equals 3.

I agree with Lost Sheep that antibiotics can affect good bacteria in the gut. The antibiotics given for implant surgery are strong. After I got off antibiotics, I drank some kombucha to give my gut a boost.

There are many horror stories out there. As posted by other members, do your homework. Frank talk is an excellent source of ppls real life experience with implants. I’ve always been a proponent of going with a top surgeon. If you are dead set on going with someone local, I’d ask if he has any of his patients that are willing to talk to you about their experiences. Ask if you will lose any size. If he says you will, I’d run. That’s a huge red flag imo. Barring any scarring and or peyronies, a good doc will size you appropriately and you will lose nothing.

I did not address the oral antibiotics I was prescribed for after surgery. (I actually forgot about them). I was talking specifically about the antibiotics used locally at the surgical site, either for irrigation/lavage or coating the implant's parts.
Yes, oral antibiotics can affect the gut microbiome.
There are many ways to restore the proper population of beneficial bacteria in your gut (both large and small intestine, not just the colon),

I've been very fortunate with good results with my implant so far, 18 months I've had it, but I have to say after reading some of the experiences on there, I am a little worried about this thing failing and having a redo, so far no regrets but time will tell.
Hello, married to a beautiful wife who helped me make this decision. Had the AMS 700 implanted 18 months ago and love it. Here to help if anyone needs any advice. I'm 59 and from the Pittsburgh area.

I've seen people reporting that they lose about a half an inch. I'm thinking it would be ideal to only lose 0.25 inch or lose nothing at all, but a functional penis is really the end goal of the implant isn't it? Size is just a bonus

Yes a functioning penis is the end goal. But beware. If you lose too much size, and or have a floppy head, rather unfortunately you might not be able to please women. You might need a revision. You’re young and have a whole lifetime of fucking ahead. Just saying.

I don't even think I measured my dick before when I would get hard but I know I was certainly at least average, probably even upwards of 6.3 or so inches. I don't need a porn star dick, just one that's big enough to do the job you know? I really worry about the floppy head part, but with a good surgeon that's gotta be a less likely risk
