Roksolid,
Kramer and Eid do one thing only (penile surgery) and they do it very well. I would not take my chance of a lifetime with someone that deals with male and female urinary tract issues. The testimonials for those two doctors that seem to be accessible to you are numerous. They are caring and there is nothing they will run into during your surgery that they have not solved before. These are advertising chop shops. They are professionals that are world renown specialists in their field.

Re: Hello friends...
Urologists who do implants have had additional training beyond "just urology" and are called prosthetic urologists (the "official" name of an implant is a penile prosthesis -- which unfortunately sounds like some artificial-looking substitute for the real thing, which an implant is not). I think the implant manufacturers can provide lists of prosthetic urologists in your area, and those doctors should be willing to let you talk to implant patients about their experiences with that doctor.
Re: Hello friends...
I want to thank everybody for the great responses. With something like this, I think it would be stupid not to talk to at least 2 (or more) doctors and go with the one I feel most comfortable with.
After reading the information on Dr. Kramer (and I was surprised by how much is out there) I feel fortunate that he is only a couple of hours away. I've read stories of people traveling across country and internationally for his services. That says a lot for his practice (or a lot for his online outreach). Since my wife has a procedure at UMD Baltimore early next month anyway, I'm going to call his office and see if I can't get a quick consult with him and ask my questions while I am up there.

I have a prosthetic urologist about 50 miles from me that I had a consultation with. He seemed like a great guy that was easy to like. The problem is that when I mentioned Dr. Eid to him and mentioned hundreds of implants a year his reply was, "Well, unfortunately in this area you just don't get to do anywhere near that kind of volume. I am successful at getting less than a dozen men a year that opt for an implant." I appreciated his honesty.
As nice as he was, I would never let a low volume guy do my implant. Another clue is when a rep from Coloplast or AMS is in the OR. There is NO reason for a rep to be in the OR if a surgeon is very skilled. If he needs a guy guiding him in the procedure, he will NOT be doing my surgery. A great high volume surgeon could teach an implant rep things they never even considered. In fact, many very high volume surgeons can make recommendations to implant companies on improvements in implant design. I would also never go to a surgeon that was prepared to only use one brand of implant. A surgeon cannot be certain until the actual surgery what the best match will be for your penis. I do not want a surgeon settling for accommodating my penis to fit the implant they have or that they decided to put in before the surgery or that a company representative tells them to use. Rather, I want the implant chosen to best accommodate the penis I have.

Rocksolid,
Wish you the best. I researched locally and narrowed down to three doctors and finally decided on Eid. My prostatectomy was done by a urologist at Sibley Hospital. I went to see doctors in Johns Hopkins. Got my implant last Friday. Many knowledgable people and lots of goof information available on this forum. If in my level I can ever help feel free to PM me. I live in Potomac.

Re: Hello friends...
Ouch Captn...you must be in a bit of pain right now.
I'm kind of half wondering if any of the doctors that are popular on the implant list in this region would do a vasectomy at the same time. I mean while he's in there why not snip snip?
It's just an extra I am pondering. Yeah, I could get it done easily and separately but since I'm there...
I live in Germantown, so I am not too far from you. I might toss some questions at you as I get further along since you're local... and thanks!

Please send your questions and I'll be glad to help. Got lots of help from members here and would be delighted if I can contribute.
Don't know if they do. That, of course, was not on my plan.
as for the pain....I read here many time that the first reaction after the surgery is "WTF did I do this...". I got there very quick. Still have some pain but most of it gone. Yesterday I took my recommended baths and started inflating/deflating. Went very well. Every day that goes by, I know for fact that I did the right thing. No regret at all.
