If I needed my tonsils out, I would go thru the proper channels and everyone would learn that I was out for a couple of weeks and they would be curious as to why, and they would learn that I had my tonsils out. No big secret. How do guys go about getting time off for implant without peeking curiosity? I've read in other posts that guys tell friends and family that they need urological work done, which shuts down the conversation - but can you really be that vague at work and expect that you will not peak massive curiosity? I work for a large company and i'm sure they have some accommodation for people who have surgery and then recover, but I've never done anything in my life other than call in sick for one day.
Have some of you simply used vacation - so as to keep maximum discretion? How soon could you return to a desk job? How soon could you work from home on a computer?
I was thinking of taking a week of vacation - telling supervisor I had "surgery below the belt" and could work from home the following week. Could I return to a desk job after 2 weeks?

If in u s hippa laws protect you. All required to tell employers would be medical procedures with a release from dr to return to work.

Re: Explaining Time of from work
I told them that I was having hernia surgery and that I couldn't drive for a week. I had surgery on Friday, took off the next week and was back at work the following Monday. No questions were asked. I did walk slower than normal but there were no questions, just though I was recovering from hernia surgery.
Suffered with ED for most of my life. Viagra then to Trimix then implanted 3/8/2018 with AMX 700 CX 21cm with 1cm RTE. 50 years old Urolift procedure performed 30 day prior to my implant surgery.

Thanks guys.I think the hernia idea is very practical. Is it simplest to just use vacation? I'm sure there is some kind of LOA that could be done, but that might be more complexity than its worth.

It can be worth it to go on loa. You might take longer than you think to recover. You can also collect disability and save your vacation.
Re: Explaining Time of from work
I'm doing the same and my pay will be @ 100% as I'll be on STD, Short term Disability so my vacation days will remain intact. You're not required to tell your HR person at work what procedure you're getting BUT the Insurance co who's covering your pay during your time off and your HR will need a letter from the doctor as to when you can return to work. FMLA paperwork will need to be filled out too.
I myself really don't care who knows I'm getting a bionic Dick!

I used "urological" issue but every now and then I would get a follow up question. Someone else mentioned "hernia"... that works good BUT, go on google and research inguinal hernia so if there is any discussion, you know a little bit.

All you have to say is that you're having surgery.
The details are nobody's business.
