Infection, mechanical failure of the device, potential size loss/poor placement, and nerve damage are all good reasons to delay this surgery - to say nothing of financial cost.
My own thinking for delaying is that I want to reduce the total number of times in my life that I need to get my dick surgically operated on (ie, original implant and future revisions). So if I can reduce that number even by 1, I want to do that.
Hallfighter, I think you give some wise points to consider. I can only imagine what my perspective would be if I was 50 years younger but I can't really be sure. I do think some of the reasons you point out for delay are greatly minimized by your wise advice to pick a top-notch surgeon. Trying to imagine a potential of maybe 10 revisions is not good but I cannot help but think in 20 or 30 years surely advances will have been made. If nothing else, implants that last longer.
Also what is your view of reducing the number of times you need a replacement vs minimizing the number of times you have to avoid a girl you might be attracted to, maybe even the girl you could start a life and a family with? I'm interested in your perspective. I am glad to see you are functional now so that will likely factor in.
