i had the Urolift procedure back in March of this year. I was a very easy procedure and i was over it in a week. I just got a couple packs of AZO and took after the procedure and urinated a lot to cleanse myself. The procedure was nothing. I highly recommend it to anyone suffering from prostate issues. Best of luck to you!

I see from your signature that you don't have a penile implant yet. With Bailey's original post, he is post-implant and asking if UroLift is possible, already having a penile implant. I just explained that I personally didn't think the urethra could be stretched out straight to use a rigid cystoscope, due to the implant, which I believe would force the natural curve of the urethra and prevent the urologist from pulling it out straight to get the straight scope where it needs to go.

I agree that UroLift is great and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a candidate, and fortunately I got mine BEFORE I got my inflatable implant but I'm highly dubious whether one could get UroLift AFTER an IPP was implanted.

I had Urolift done January 2018. The procedure was a piece of cake and worked well for about 18 months at which time my prostate had grown and again I had started the need to urinate frequently. Adding additional ties would not work which contradicted what I was told by the surgeon who did the Urolift procedure in the first place.

I went to two different Urologist and both said that the short term failure rate was on the high side. I finally choose a Doctor I trusted and he wanted to try the rezum procedure but after a sonogram and a couple other tests the best option for me was the tried and true “gold standard” TURP procedure. I just hit my six weeks post op and my urination problem is slowly getting better but not nearly as fast as the Urolift procedure.

Do your research and you will find that the Urolift procedure is loosing popularity with Urologist across the country and Rezum has a higher long term success rate.
I feel extremely lucky because I can still ejaculate after TURP which was my biggest concern.

Wish you the best of luck! But do your research. If you would have asked me a year ago, I would have been totally for Urolift and would have said go for it but after my failure and the opinion of two Urologist along with my own research, look at other options.

I am glad Urolift is working for some of the guys out there and hope it will continue to work for years to come!

I am currently waiting to see if my insurance is going to pay for an implant. I have a 75 degree curvature from peyronies. My Surgery has been scheduled for January 20,2020.

I never liked the fact that your come from ejaculation was reversed back into your body. Just not sure if I would be a candidate due to my recent implant. Anyone out there familiar with getting the Urolift that also has a implant? Thanks, Bailey

Wow Bailey, I just found the exact information you're looking for. What you're asking apparently has been done in the UK exactly one time at the publishing of the medical paper linked below (it's a PDF). The patient referenced in the publication had an IPP inserted in 2008 and the UroLift procedure was performed about a year ago (not noted but the paper was submitted 12/1/18 and published this past January). It goes on to state that neither the representatives from Boston Scientific (AMS) nor Uro-Lift had any idea if the IPP would survive the procedure because the procedure had never been done before with an IPP in situ. The patient reported during a telephone consultation a week later that the IPP was still functional after Uro-Lift procedure.

The patient was counselled by the doctor and the reps from the two respective companies regarding the potential for damage to the IPP and he accepted the potential risk.

If you decide you want to seek a Uro-Lift implant, please provide the below PDF to your urologist and advise them if they're unsure if it can be done, to contact the doctors responsible for the procedure referenced in this publication.
