The big question is, was your original AMS implant an "IZ" or not? The model designation on my implant card for mine is:

AMS 700 CX 15 cm - IZ

The "IZ" means "Inhibi-Zone" antibiotic coating. Without the "IZ" on the model, it has to be soaked in antibiotic fluid before implantation. For some individuals, the IZ model may be contraindicated due to having an allergy to Rifampin or taking another drug that interacts with Rifampin. I had no such contraindication because I have taken Rifampin in the past for a latent TB infection and knew it was tolerated.

Agfa, why do you think the doctor messed up? Any time there’s a break in the skin there’s a chance of infection, infection is a known complication with any surgery ESPECIALLY with any kind of implant (even screws, plates, total hips, etc)

Let's see...I went in with 8" (documented), and now have 4".
I am not ready to really address this....

Vinney, his story is well documented here too... He went in a couple of weeks after surgery and they couldn't inflate due to intense pain. There were some suspicious signs that an infection might be present even if there wasn't any drainage. The doctor took a "Let's wait and see" approach and it was further weeks or possibly month+ later before he was diagnosed with an infection. He went into surgery expecting to swap the AMS for a Titan after a salvage cleaning but ended up getting a temporary malleable of half his original length.

As I said, he has posted about this throughout his ordeal and I believe his accusations of doctor's incompetence (my word, not his) were due to the "WAIT AND SEE" attitude which allowed his un-inflated size to "set in" and and grow scar tissue before having anything done about it, which also allowed more time for the infection to fester longer which ultimately may have been why they didn't place the Titan on first revision.

Gotcha, and I have read your story. I thought you meant the infection was the doctors fault when in reality anyone could get an infection from surgery, but yeah he should have been aggressive if he suspected an infection instead of playing around with it

Had surgery yesterday remove the pump and implant and flushed me out and he said it really didn’t look that bad and so he went ahead and re-inserted a new three-piece implant been on anabiotic‘s for over a week and gave me a lot of anabiotic‘s to take for the next 30 days he thinks that this will take care of it and he says everything looks good.
