TANGERINE wrote:now, as a three year bionic, I have a little more opinion and experience with the following three solutions to glans engorgement (or lack there-of):

Those who really want to work on the glans hardness, the options are:
1) trimix gel

Trimix gel was prescribed to me by my local urologist as an attenpt to improve glans firmness during sex (my wife likes the glans hardness since she has learned that glans is now the only indicator of my natural state of being turned on by her). Interesting, when I use trimix gel, I actually get a natural erection in the glans and in the cavernosum !!! It was fun to have a natural erection on top of my cylinders. Because of my severe ED, the firmness of the erection was not great, and I would likely barely be able to penetrate with the erection. For the women, the experience would be aht they might decribe as a "soft fuck" whereby the man can get in, but the penis never really gets super hard. So, for my wife, who has experienced the joys of my implant, would never put up with that sort of semi-chub erection, and I of course use the pumped up cyliders when having sex. All that being said, though, it was neat to have a natural erection again thanks to the trimix (though, as stated already, the erection is not good enough to be prodigious in bed). That being said, I do use the trimix on occasion when I want my glans to be big during sex, and the best part is that when my glans swells up at orgasm time, the swell is even bigger with the trimix on board. oreover, I do notice natural (though weak) erections happening since the trimix has kick started things a little.

By the way, you all should know that Propecia (finestride) has really messed up any remaining erection capability I had. Having the implant, I figured that I had nothing to lose by taking propecia for hair loss. WRONG, propecia led me to lose any glans erections and decreased my semen volume. The good news is that after stopping propecia and using trimix gel, I am back to where I was 6 months later.

2) cock ring
I have written about this in the past, it helps the glans erection a bunch, but I think the ring looks odd, and women might be a little judgemental since you "need help to keep it up", so I do not use the ring since I do not need it, really (ie, my glans, though rather limited, is good enough)

3) viagra -
I tried this. It was not a significant improvement. And I can't stand the headaches, or in the case of cialis, the backaches. Also, the need to time things is not what being a bionic is all about.

So, in my experience, it is best to "travel light" and discard the trimix gel, discard the cock ring, and discard the viagra. A bionic is plenty good enough to satisfy a women, and fixating on the soft glans is a neurotic activity that is not worth the effort---in my opinion

Great information as always Tangerine.
It sounds with trimix gel..you have best of both worlds.
Is it cumbersome to carry the gel..does it require to be kept cold ?

Thanks

As a guy who currently doesn't have much glans engorgement pre-implant, my intention was to hopefully use a ring post implant to help the glans.

Trimix gell is something I have never really considered as an option, but why not? Better than an obvious ring as tangerine says. Best of both worlds if it works as Captain says.

So I too am curious too, as to the use of trimix gel with an implant. Food for thought.
Thanks everyone, it's my biggest worry....love to all.

Thanks, Arch.

It requires a prescription and as I understand it, it's not something you can just submit to any pharmacy. TriMix Gel has to be compounded and it may require a special compounding pharmacy or your urologist may mix it themselves.

Do folk become resistant to the gel over time, like they do the shots?
Maybe it's such a low concentration when applied dermally that resistance takes a longer time to develop.

Your statement about dermal application did make me wonder something... I wonder if they incorporate a chemical into TriMix Gel that enhances its dermal absorption. I know DMSO is said to have those properties and any chemical/drug/poison mixed with DMSO can potentially be absorbed directly through the skin of the hands, simply from handling it (saw it on "CSI" TV show).

I just started a seperate thread titled :

"Trimix Gel: a helper for glans engorgement ? or not worth the trouble ?"

I have detailed my experience and thoughts regarding the gel in the opening post of that thread.

viaswiss just private mesaged me regarding a finesteride propeicia question:
Hey, I saw that many of your issues started with Propecia. Do you feel that was the catalyst for ED and genital issues?

How has your implant helped with that? Do you have any numbness issues or sensitivity issues?

regarding the original catalyst for my ED--I started propecia AFTER the implant, so not causative of ED for me; though, I asked my doctor about propecia years ago, and he said, well, yes it will grow hair, but the complication is "limp dick". So, I ran away fast and never ever asked for propecia before getting the implant. Apparently, propecia relation to impotence is well known.

Now that I have an implant, I thought the women would like a full head of hair; so I got a hair transplant. The hair transplant worked really really well and it looks great ! But my hair transplant doctor recommended and prescribed propecia after the transplant since I was taking testosterone, and it is known that high testosterone leads to hair loss. The propecia protects hair follicles from the testosterone effects. I figured I had nothing to lose in terms of erections since the implant fixed me, so I took the propecia.

Alas, 5 months after the propecia, I noticed that my volume of semen was down and also my ability to get erect in the glans of the penis, although already limited before propecia, has become really very limited (ie, propecia killed off any trace of a natural erection). My wife complained that my glans was not getting hard anymore (and she figured that was a sign that I was not turned on by her since she evolved to monitor my glans firmness as a sign of my level of sexual arousal (and thus as a validation of her sexual desirability).

So, I asked my local surgeon, Dr Karpman about the glans erection trouble, and he noticed that I was on propecia and he said that it is key that I stop the propecia since he has seen numerous erectile problems related to propecia. Similarly, my neighborhood general urologist also confirmed, without hesitation, that propecia causes issues with semen volume and erections and it is associated with high grade prostate cancer.

So, for me, propecia is NO GOOD, now after being off of it for six months, my semen volume is better, and my glans erections are half way improved to where they once were.

I notified my hair doctor about the propecia issues, she said -- "naaah, if you are having erection issues, it is something else, it is not the propecia." (Though, I am going to follow the advice of my general urologist and Dr Karpman on this one and I will never take it again).

by the way,
(a)regarding numbness issues--i have zero numbness
(b)regarding sensitivity issues--i am just as sensitive as before the implant (I actually still have some Premature ejaculation, but I handle this with lidocaine spray ("KY duration spray for men")
(c)regarding implant as a cure for Post fenastride syndorme--yes, implant will cure impotence no matter what was the original cause. Dr Karpman told me that post fenesteride syndrome is a fairly common indication for him needing to do implants on his patient population

I have used Intraurethral gel, and it is indeed made by a compounding pharmacy. It does need to be refrigerated, and has a one month shelf life. Unless you and your wife or significant other are like rabbits, it is an expensive drug for only a couple uses in a month timeframe

Also, I am just over a week post op and my wife likes to walk around I front of me nude. I get the same sensations I did pre op, just without an erection. Can’t wait to unleash the beast in a month! She is counting down as well
