What pump did you have? One Touch pump or the Genesis pump?

I understand I have what is called the "classic" pump. This is the name a Coloplast patient educator explained to me when I had circulated a pic viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9417 here a few years ago. The Genesis is the brand name Coloplast gives to its malleable prosthesis https://www.coloplast.us/genesis-en-us.aspx and, while I have seen it used to describe the "old" pump, I doubt that Coloplast would want to create any confusion about its products' brand names.

Here is a pic of the keychain pump I received after my surgery.

On my office visit, Dr. Hakky reported that the classic pump is no longer available and he would be installing the One Touch version. I am pumped.

Good. Glad that you are getting away from that classic pump. It’s causing failures all throughout us “implantees.” I’ve converted to the one touch & hopes that it enables me some longevity.

A lot of the implant doctors are getting away from this “classic pump” bc it is being used with outdated silicone. I actually talked to the head R&D director at Coloplast. I had 2 classic pump failures within 2 years
Implanted by Dr. Hakky on August 6th, 2018 Coloplast 22 cm. Genesis pump failure 8/17/19. Revision 9/10/2019. Genesis pump failed 2/27/2020 while having sex. Second revision scheduled 4/7/2020 with new Titan One Touch pump instead of Genesis

I had an MS pump fail after ten months of a revision. The insurance covered it with no problems at all. Fact I think the prosthetic also has warranty for five years I believe, not sure, but my Medicare advantage covered everything. So I had the revision two done within a month. The recovery was quick and very little trauma to the scrotum and penis. Within four weeks the doctor was so satisfied he gave me the green light to use it, have sex if I wanted to or just play with it. I decided to wait six weeks and make sure everything was well healed up.

The classic pump is still available. I had one installed two and a half months ago. Another member I've been PMing had one installed just two weeks ago. I don't know if the pump is sold separately, but it is included in the pre-attached set where the pump come pre-connected to the cylinders.

April 6th will be my replacement. ( I am getting my pre-op physical the 1st week of March. If the doctor gets a cancellation - I can be available on 2 days notice ) Doc said the entire unit has to come out. Mentally im a mess... approx. 6 weeks later ( Mid May ) I have to go in and have a fix on my spinal surgery from last year. . The 2 doctors spend the last 2 days talking - and they felt it was better to have the penile implant replacement as the 1st surgery - so we know by the time I get the spinal fix - - Ill have no bathroom issues..
