Thanks
Dont know what Doc is going to say, however he did give me all the information in the AMS packet.
No other instructions. Dont know why I am only getting several pumps before things lock up again. Will have to push and release deflate button to verify complete release.

Thanks.

The AMS Patient Liaison's contact information should be in your information packet. AMS provides for his services to talk patients through questions as you have. The service takes a load away from the surgeons and is free to patients. The PL's often know more about troublshooting the devices than the surgeons, too. They get a lot of feedback from patients.

Sorry I didn't think to mention it before.

Hi Lil Willy.
I found your post whilst searching the web for problems with the AMS 700 implant. I too had an AMS 700 implant on 17 December 2021 in the UK, and, like you, I am having similar problems. My implant was activated 8 days ago and I was instructed how to cycle it, however, my surgeon found it difficult to inflate the device at the time but said that it would probably get easier with use, it didn't! When I start to pump I get the initial pop with the first press but then the pump quickly locks up. I get some pressure in the tubes but no discernable increase in length or girth, in fact, you'd be hard-pressed to notice any difference between inflated and deflated. When I press the release button I get the vibration through the block and the tubes deflate slightly. I have tried all the things people have recommended, the quick hard press, the double thumb press, the hot bath soak, the bending in all directions in fact everything short of a pair of long-handled pliers! Nothing has worked and pumping is becoming more difficult with fewer partial pumps before locking up.
I have been back in touch with my surgeon and the only thing he can think of is that the implant is faulty but just to check that all is where it should be, he has arranged for me to have an MRI next Tuesday. If all is as it should be then he is going to refer me to someone who specialises in troubleshooting implant problems in London. If you like, I'll keep you updated.
One last thing, were you aware that the AMS 700 implants were subject to a recall notice by the US FDA at the end of 2020. If you search 'problems with AMS 700 penile implant' you'll find a link to the FDA page which, in turn, gives details of a Boston Scientific web page where you can check if your implant's one of those affected. You should find details of the serial number of your implant on the card at the back of your patient guidebook that came with the implant.
Hope that this has been of use to you.

Tommo, did your surgeon leave you inflated the first night after your surgery?
If so, he must have either had no problem or figured out how to do it.

Yes he said he left it inflated approximately 40 per cent, about 12 pumps. So yes the pump was working at implant time.
I see him the 18 th of Feb, will be asking many questions. You get the PM.

Keep in touch. Best wishes.
