With Viagra, make sure to step up the dose to minimise side effects.
Try 25mg, then 50mg, then 75mg, then 100mg.
Don't do 100mg for your first dose.
Side effects to look for are:
- Bad migraine
- changes in vision, such as everything turning blue.
- changes in hearing, sudden hearing loss, or loud Tinnitus.
Incase of vision problems or hearing loss, go to emergency.
With SSHL (sudden sensory hearing loss), cortisteroid injections or tablets with 24 hours
can save your hearing.

45yo, venous leak. Pills increased tinnitus (very rare). Using bimix+atropine, 0.2 of:
Atropine Sulfate: 52MCG/ML, Phentolamine MES: 0.9MG/ML, Papaverine HCL: 26MG/ML
Atropine Sulfate: 52MCG/ML, Phentolamine MES: 0.9MG/ML, Papaverine HCL: 26MG/ML

I’ve had several and got wildly divergent diagnoses. He probably used the min dosage plus you’ll have likely been nervous. A Nocturnal Penile Tumescence test is much more beneficial.
He did use min dosage, and mentioned adrenalin from the nerves around being injected might turn down the erectile response, but even with that considered I was getting about 25cm flow into my penis which I've checked elsewhere meets the threshold for vasulogenic ED (a normal response for someone my age would be around 75cm). There was also a fair amount of scar tissue. As things stand it seems only a higher dose injection would work and if that's the only option left I'd rather go for an implant.
Blankloads69 wrote:My implant specialist told me that if you don't respond to injections and the doppler shows an organic issue in the penis, then an implant is really the only feasible option left. Typically pills would be prescribed before resorting to injection, so kinda surprised your doc still prescribed it after the injection didn't elicit a response.
We're basically in the same boat. I'm 31 and didn't respond to bimix, and doppler showed i have arterial insufficiency. Taking the plunge and getting implanted on February 15th.
It's comforting to know I'm not the only one, feel very young to be dealing with this and a little unsure about others will react when I'm dating again. My urologist didn't seem particularly hopeful about the pills but he said it would be worth trying them, if they provide half a response he said having shockwave therapy could buy me a few years before needing an implant, but tbh I'd rather not have it hanging over my head and just go for it. Most likely at our follow up meeting in a couple weeks I'll kick start the process.

Don't panic. Many men have been through this before. Knowledge dispels fear. Learn all you can. I educated myself with on-line medical journals (peer-reviewed journals, not popular press and certainly not the come-ones and advertisements I was flooded with before I found FrankTalk).CuriosDK wrote:Hi all
After hearing about venous leakage I decided to book a doppler ultrasound to rule out any physical causes for my ED. Being fairly young and in good shape I assumed it was all in my head, however after the injection failed to muster a semi my doctor told me I had severe vasculogenic ED and that at some point in my future an implant is inevitable. He's prescribed me some pills (already failed to maintain an erection on 5mg Cialis) and if they don't work we'll talk about an implant in our follow up appointment in a few weeks.
Overall I'm a little panicked about the surgery and prospect of an implant, at the same time its a relief to know theres a final solution to my issues. I have a few q's about it all:
Frankly, I found a lack of feedback from my penis about my level of arousal. Pumped up or not. But you get used to it and your brain learns to pay attention to other signals your body generates.CuriosDK wrote:- How does arousal feel with a flaccid implant? Is there any sensation in the penis as you become aroused or is there nothing until you pump up?
There are many weight-lifters on FrankTalk, so I will defer to them. None I know of have reported problems with a decently installed implant.CuriosDK wrote:- How have you found exercise since being implanted? I lift weights fairly regularly and train MMA, I will likely have to drop the latter as my doctor said to avoid impact to the crotch area which is disappointing. Does anyone have experience of lifting post-surgery?
Hernia is a popular cover story. Even your weightlifing associates will probably buy that. But if the ask for details, be prepared. But consider just telling the truth. It is about time we pull the veil of secrecy and shame from ED. (Just a suggestion - I know a man's reputation is valuable to him and, depending on your circle of friends, this may be untenable to you. - I understand.)CuriosDK wrote:- What's a good cover for your recovery period? I'm not planning on sharing this with anyone for the moment, what would explain two weeks of resting time to my employer/housemates/etc?
It feels GREAT! When you compare it to HAVING to stop WAY too early when your erection fades out.CuriosDK wrote:
- How does it feel to continue having sex after ejaculation with an implant? Is there any stimulation for you or is it solely for your partners pleasure?
7 weeks for me. Your recovery time will likely be different. It depends a lot on your surgeon, which entry point chosen and a lot of other factors.CuriosDK wrote:- How long post-implant were you able to engage in sexual activity? I've seen everything from three weeks to three months.
Several days. Your timing will likely be different as well, especially as you are more extremely athletic than I am, and likely are more pain-tolerant as well.CuriosDK wrote:- How long post-implant were you able to get off pain meds? Again I've seen everything from weeks to months.
Still working on that. Even two years post-implant the reticence to initiate sex still shook my confidence (and I am still gaining ground at going on 4 years). Once again I will note your lifestyle will make a difference. I spent 40 years undergoing aversion training (every failed sexual encounter was another nail in the coffin). If you get into the MMA ring, I expect you have more determination and confidence than I had, even in my 20's.CuriosDK wrote:- How long post-implant did it take for you to psychologically get used to the implant as being part of 'you' and your body?

Gt1956 wrote:I can understand wanting testing done as a younger man. But in the big picture. If pills or injections don't work. Does it really matter what/if a cause is found. If most of the tools that the urology medical field have failed. What else is there to do?
I see members report to having turned the internet upside down looking for hints of new treatment. I don't see any on the horizon.
Even if a small clue is found. It needs to be researched, tested & studied ad nauseam. Then, at least in the case of drugs, the drug companies feel like a one day erection is worth a lot of money.
Can someone please point to an ED cause that is diagnosed by testing that can be fixed by something other that the current medical protocols? I.E. drugs & injections.
I totally agree with your points gt1956. The doppler ultrasound is interesting for the physician, but it has little impact on the patient. All we care about is that a treatment is found. The list of treatments is short (viagra/cialis and then injections with a sprinkling of gains wave ultrasound and vaccum erection devices with cock rings) and once all those have been tried, then the only thing left is implant. I tried the pills and then the injections and the injections with cock ring. When I grew a tolerance to those (ie, efficacy stopped), then it was clear that implant was my only option. Sure, my doppler ultrasound shows a big leak, but that was no surprise. I knew my erections were crap, and noting was working, so implant was the way to go.
And aside from GAINSwave ultrasound, there are no new treatments (and I really am not sure GAINSwave is all that great)

Definitely try 100mg Viagra as a next step. The penile doppler injection didn't work for me either, but I'm still doing well with 100mg Viagra so continuing with that for now. My advice would be to take it during the night and see if you have any morning wood returning.
Hi Ben John,
Is 100mg Viagra still working well for you or not as well anymore?
28 years old. VL symptoms. No morning wood for years.

I'm guessing it is. Since only two days ago he said it was still doing well with it.

Yes, it is working well. It failed on me once during sex, but I think that was psychological as I was severely depressed with the whole thing.
British, 32 yrs old. ED caused by Paraphimosis in 2019. 100mg Sildenafil for sex. Trialled Invicorp as advised by doctor in 2021 but it was too strong. Taking 50mg-75mg of Sildenafil every night at 3am to stimulate morning erections, good response so far.

That's good news then!
Have you tried without the Viagra at all or tried to lower the dose to see if there's been any improvement?

No nocturnal erections without Viagra. The last time I used Invicorp I had a 3 and a half hour erection, so staying clear of injections for a while

I don't get them with 5mg of cialis often.
Not tried injections yet. 10mg cialis worked well on its own the other night for me.
Good news that the injections have such a good effect. At least its a confidence boost!
