I did surgery alone. Like stated above, be sure to prep anything 2-3 weeks after surgery before your surgery. Like I said in multiple posts, stay naked for those 2 or 3 weeks, if you can. ICE ICE ICE and MORE ICE, wrap it in a towel and place it on your dick and nuts 30min on 30min off every other hour is fine for the first few days. Stay calm and relax. The pain is temporary, but the victory is forever.

I think Viaswiss & Scot61 describe it very well. Find out about any special rules your surgeon might have. Skilled help is available if you know what to look for. Cna's freelance a lot. Sometime through a service. Also check places that provide hospice care.
Just my opion, having a real human to talk to for a few minutes can be comforting. Don't forget care for any pets you might have.
It can be done. Good luck to all.

Thanks for all the replies thus far. Im 50 in good overall health other then some cholesterol which I just dropped 100 points with diet and a mild statin. My work is 70% desk and 30% travel so I’d probably do it toward the end of the year ( merry Christmas ) when things slow down for us. I can always work from home for a bit. Guess I would need to board my pitt for at least a week. Most people say gym/workout in a month, wonder about hiking, climbing a tree, shooting a bow, dragging a deer etc. Guess that would be another reason to push this to end of the year. Also would give me more time to decide if I want to keep playing Tri-mix roulette.

Levine said go home same day, about a week-10 days just laying on your back as much as you can, back to work 2 weeks , gym 4 weeks. He doesn’t activate/cycle you until 4 weeks. He’s not super high volume like Eid or Perito but he has done over 3500, and averages about 2-3 implants a week. He seems like the best option in the Chicago area.

Guess my mental part about going alone is not so much the recovery as more the “reception” to it later when you use it in dating. That’s my only mental hang ups thus far.

Red5150, sounds like you have a valid plan. As to the dating anxiety. I've read every post since I joined. Even a lot of the posts in the other sections. I've even went back in the post history & read several years worth of them. I'm not saying it won't happen but I do not recall of a dating rejection. There has been some members whos wives have decided to discontinue sex but it seems like their decision would of been to stop sex even if ED & the implant had never happened. I think you'll be fine.

Red5150: Following my prostatectomy, I had to use trimix and it really sucked as far as having to plan ahead, being limited to how many times a day and week we could have sex. And then I started having really bad burning after we had sex. It worked, but it destroyed our sex life. Our relationship ended in part because of all that. Now I’m back at square one again but I feel so much better knowing that I’ll be able to have sex anytime and anywhere. The woman I was with had been with me for a couple years before my cancer surgery so she was really cool about the whole trimix ordeal. I couldn’t even imagine having to explain to a new woman that I would have to inject my penis in order to have sex. This way I don’t feel like I’ll even have to mention that everything isn’t completely natural. Time will tell, but I can say that I feel better!

Scott61 wrote:I’m at day 13 post op and doing real well alone. I was fortunate to have a very close friend, a previous SO, take me to the hospital and back. She stayed with me for about 9 days. The doctor said I had to have someone with me for the first 24 hours; I could have paid someone to do that if I had to. I went home with a catheter and a drain hose that I had to remove at 24 hours; very easily done alone. The main benefit of having someone with me was to keep my ice bag fresh and prepare my meals so I didn’t have to stand up very much; and that was very helpful, but not mandatory. You said you have a ride available, that’s probably the biggest obstacle.

Prepare in advance to have more ice available then you think you will need! I was told to ice 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off for the first 48 hours. I found I liked 15 minutes on and 10 minutes off better, and it really helped with swelling and pain ( I had a penoscrotal incision). I’m still icing some now. Have a heating pad ready to go! I was told to start using heat after the 48 hours of ice. I ended up icing for 3 days before starting the heat; both are wonderful!

Prepare to have easily prepared food for at least 2 weeks, or more if possible; of course be wise about your diet to promote healing.

Think about all your normal choirs you will not be able to do for 2 to 3 weeks, and prepare to do them in advance. Cut the grass before surgery and then don’t worry about it. Do your laundry, clean your house, do enough grocery shopping for a month if you can. You may need to put a hold on your mail for a week.

It’s all about the logistics! You can absolutely make it happen all by yourself. You need to prepare to be laying down for a week with minimal getting up. Standing up made my scrotum feel like it was on fire. I’m laying on the couch writing this and I feel great.

As far as the psychological aspect of going through this alone, I would say I feel a little like I’m going through basic training again, preparing for my next mission. Or like I’m training for an important marathon that I expect to PR! I feel invigorated. I feel like my opportunities to find a wife have proliferated. I have moments of almost excitement. This is the beginning of a new phase of life. Perception is reality. Get excited. Make the most of whatever the day brings. Everything is an opportunity. You can absolutely do this!

Well stated.

I am scheduled in Seattle on Aug 19.. Being from Spokane, it is a 4 1/2 to 5 hr drive back home. Planning maybe 2 days post surgery in Seattle and then back home. The UW has some lodging nearby I am checking out. Dr Walsh from the UW men's center is doing the surgery. I plan on lots of ice and books on Kindle to pass the time til I am ready to drive. Could stay with my son and his girlfriend but not sure how comfortable that would be with being partially inflated, bandages, etc.
69, ED started early 40s, pills, eventually Trimix but dosage was very high for short term results.
Pulled trigger on implant and decided to go to Seattle as the Doc does a lot more of these.

I took an Uber to surgery. Stayed overnight at hospital and got a ride home the next day. No problems w living alone. I was prepared w food, drove in 3 days. Tried riding my motorcycle but that hurt on the testicles.

Did slow walking on the treadmill starting at about 10 days after surgery and was inflating on the 7th day after surgery.

Everyone recovers differently and I frankly didn't want somebody doting over me.

Forgot figure out how you're going to pee when you're hard. That is logistical pain.

I designated a second bathroom where I would pee in the tub then turn the faucet on to rinse

When I left the hospital they sent one of those plastic urinals home with me. It works great!
