My Implant Journey
Re: My Implant Journey
Sorry for the rambling, I should have previewed my post for spelling etc-oh yeah i had the AMS CX 21 cm 12 cm with 1 cm rear extensions. I am assuming I got this device because my penis is thin but I am very happy with it so far..anyone have the 700CX? Jim

I'm surprised you needed a catheter as I didn't get one after surgery and never needed it. I wonder why some Docs require one and others don't. I hate catheters.

Re: My Implant Journey
From my reading, I think all implant patients get a catheter. It is part of the recommended practice for placing an implant. Recommend by the implant manufacturers for two reasons; to help identify the urethra and also to drain the bladder during surgery to help prevent infection. It is generally removed after sugery. How long after is doctor dependent. If it comes out before you wake up, you never know it was there.
Wish I had had such luck. By the way, my scar tissue removal got me 1/4 to 1/2 more stretch flacid length now that I feel comfortable pulling on things now that the catheter is out.
The catheters are recommended by the implant manufacturers, but the surgeons know best.

I was transported to the ER of the hospital where I had surgery- had blood work, exrays and ct scan. I busted the orbital bone that goes around your eye and my top jaw bone in two places. I was stabelized and transported to another hospital around three pm yesterday and had maxilofacial surgery late yesterday evening--I now have three plates in my eye orbit and upper jaw-- Jim
Wow! That sucks, I read your note that you fell but I didn't think it was this serious, good luck with your recovery, I hope both ends come out OK!

The"boys" are not liking their new roommate the pump today! They liked being only children! Have had issues finding comfy underwear today. Like the soft jockey pouch ones today. The underarmour pouch ones were pretty awesome too - not compression shorts though. Thought they would be good for keeping him pointing up but it was too painful. Took hot bath but incision is still painful today as is my broken face!!
Re: My Implant Journey
I think this is day 5 post implant. While most of my attention is focused on my facial injuries, the implant is very much apparent in my crotch area, it is difficult to get up and down from the chair, couch, or bed. I am experiencing the folding issue that was referred to as a straw folding at the base of the penis. It is not painful but the implant is being felt 24/7. I am ready for it to become a part of me and I will not be aware of it. Using it is the farthest thing from my mind right now but I am feeling the chambers and the pump. I have located the deflate button and the bulb pump. Just trying to keep everything loosened up and have it ready to cycle up in about 10 days. I go to the dentist tomorrow to see about making my chipped front tooth look presentable and how the mass of colors on my face continue to fade. I am blessed because some of you had the swelling and bruising on the penis and testicles. I still have none and for that I am very thankful. Jim

I had a catheter during surgery, of course, but never saw it. My point was questioning why some people went home with them.

Re: My Implant Journey
Ten days post op! I can not begin to tell you what an incredible experience this has been. I knew my surgeon was top rated but I am here to say he is TOP rated. I had no swelling, no bruising, and minimal pain. One of my scrotal stitches was irritated and being over cautious, I went for him to look at it today. He said it was just part of the healing. He said all looked great and showed me how to inflate and deflate. He advised me to do this everyday twice a day if time allowed. I was able to get ten pumps today- could have done more but scrotum was hurting from squeezing the pump! I was impressed with the length and girth. The tips are well into the glans--a perfect sizing of the implant. He scheduled a 6 week follow up for November 21 and advised against having intercourse prior to that date! Fine with me. I am just trying to get used to the feeling of my new junk! Prior to surgery, it was just an empty feeling in the briefs-not anymore. I am very aware of my new package and loving it!!! Jim
Re: My Implant Journey
Great news! You're making me jealous. I was hoping to be about 8 days farther along than you. The good side of this is that I get to see reports from someone having a good recover while anxiously awaiting my turn again. Now only 19 days, seems like years.
My urologist is a mite cautious I believe. He doesn't recommend having his patients pumping it up and letting it down until it is healed enough that they can put it to good use. Something like why put you through all the discomfort if you aren't going to get to enjoy it? Over at PenileImplants on Yahoo ran into a fellow that like me had scar tissue in the urethra from his RP. His urologist went ahead with the implant after clearing the scar tissue. Mine was of the opinion that cleaning out the scar tissue increased the chance of infection too much.
Hope your face heals as quickly as everything else, it is a bummer to get beat up by asphalt.
