Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDS are great as they are anti-inflammatory. Tylenol or Acetaminophen is not a NSAID. It has nothing for inflammation. This is important because the surgery will cause inflammation. That inflammation can cause more injury that causes more inflammation and just keeps going like that. NSAIDS are processed out of our system by our kidneys. Acetaminophen is removed by our liver. If you have trouble with either one of those or you are taking high doses of either for a long time you may consider taking 1/2 and 1/2 of each vs 100% of either one. Of course you need to follow your doctors instructions. Mine insisted I take the brand name Motrin and not generics. Prescription pain pills may or may not have an anti-inflammatory drug with it. Ask about this.

Implantrd 4-18-2023. I had level 10 pain thru day 6. Then went to ER. The surgery all checked out OK. But I had severe inflammation. I was on Oxycodone every 12 hrs and one Extra strength Tylenol every 8 hrs. At the recommendation of the doctor I went to the ER. They determined after giving me a dose of Delaudin, which resolved the pain almost immediately.

They upped the pain meds to one Oxycodone every 4 hrs and two regular strength Tylenol every 6 hrs. In 3 days things improved dramatically, inflammation went down a lot. At 12 days post op things dramatically improved.

I cannot take Motrin because of other conditions, but I hear that it works better for inflammation. Ice for me did not very much. A heating pad was better.

I still have irritation from the incision in the Scotum, but it is getting better today 5-18. I would suggest you raise hell regarding your pain level. I got no action until I informed the doctor that I had level 10 pain for the full 6 days, that got their attention. Remember the doctors hear from people all day long regarding pain. Unless you say level 10 they think it is minor pain I know many with this surgery get almost no pain, but there are many that report severe pain. Your milesge may vary.

I would raise holy hell to get their attention.
There is no point in suffering when they have the pain meds at their disposal that will help you.
