Dr Karpman gave you very good instructions for his protocol and was honest with you about the pain you could have while healing and then cycling. I'm sure you won't have as much pain because you had the infrapubic install. I had FrankTalk friends that had sex at 3 weeks after that type of install.

Since you had that type of install, did the doc want you to pull down on the pump to keep it from migrating upward into the top of your scrotum?

Welcome again, we're here for you and answer questions that we've had experience with.

Thanks SWorks, appreciate it. Yes, he wants me to consistently pull it downward a few times a day. Will see if that starts this morning and how painful that will be. Should see him shortly and then hope to get back home.

Karpman told me I start cycling in a week and I should be good to go for sex within 3 weeks and that’s my goal!

Hope you have a speedy recovery and a great result. Thanks for making a journal, it’s really helpful to guys like me that are close behind you.

Thanks, you’re welcome and good luck to you too!

Starting Day 1 now. Will write more later after I meet with the doctor and hopefully head home.

That picture is great so guys know what they are going to wake up and see.
Hope you heal up quickly and pain free.

Thanks! There’s pluses and minuses to being here in the hospital but I overall, yes I’m glad. But can’t wait to get out of here now. Just waiting for some breakfast, talk to the doc, do a little walking and hopefully pee so they’ll let me go!

Thanks! Totally agree, this site is an incredible resource. I would be really lost without it and I will contribute what I can during my journey.

Day 1

Just met with my doctor. He apparently talked to me after I woke up from surgery but don’t remember a thing. Fortunately I was able to read the post surgery notes and details. All went well.

Got the catheter and drain out, nice relief. He pulled on my pump and I felt the first pain of this experience. Ouch! And I’m supposed to do that every time I pee for a while during this recovery process. Hope the pain of this gets better quickly.

He also said the nerve block will continue to work for about 2 more days, after that I could feel some pain.

I know many of you say ice, ice, ice, but my doctor, and my sports medicine knowledge agrees, has me stopping the ice now after 24 hours (along with a drain) and starting heat. Hot showers starting tomorrow, and hot baths 2x a day the day after tomorrow (day 3). I asked about infection risk with this and he says my incision (horizontal infrapubic) and drain hole are glued and there’s virtually no risk of infection. The heat speeds healing by opening up blood flow vs closing and restricting it with ice. And, many report easing of pain from hot baths especially when pulling the pump down and eventually cycling early on.

Next visit with the doc is in 1 week. Until then, I’m 70% erect after being 100% since the surgery. And he wants it kept “free” as much as possible during this week.

I must say, I was honestly prepared to be disappointed with my initial size.. but I’m not. It looks nearly as long as pre-op (6.3”). Can’t tell yet about girth as I was close to 6.5” pre op and he deflated me really quickly before I could look at it. Will see about that.

Anyway, just peed on my own and it felt great! Out of here shortly and home again!

Day 1 continued…

Forgot to mention. I’m able to drive myself home (45 mins) wearing the jockstrap with hole cut out for my erection, a roll of gauze under my sac and a sock over my glans with loose sweatpants over it. There is a definite bulge (big) but the pants are black and I’ll carry a hoody in hand in front of it :D

Day 2

Great to be home, though I didn’t really think through the reality of having to recover and hide from 2 teenage girls in the house for an entire week. Doc wants it to be free to stick out without pushing it up or down as much as possible, so pretty much staying in my bedroom until they’re away at school.

Next Wednesday (1 week post-op)I have my follow up where he will deflate me and have me cycle for the first time. Then I begin my cycling 2-3x a day 45-60mins. I’ve starting gently pulling the pump down and it hasn’t been painful. Happy about that! It’s sitting nice and low and behind the boys and wanna keep it there.

Slept pretty well last night and managed with ibuprofen every 4-5 hours which made me pretty much painless. Pain really isn’t bad at all, just some occasional dull pain and discomfort and when I twist a certain way I can get a sharp pain on my right abdominal side where the reservoir went. It is a sharp burning, stabbing pain that goes away immediately once I get out of the position I got into. Hoping that heals up fast.

I measured last night for the first time. I’m at 6” length and I was 6.3” pre-op. I’m hoping to get back to and maybe even a bit bigger than pre-op according to my doc. Girth pre-op I was just under 6.5” and I’m now at 5.8” at about~70% inflation. Really hope I get my girth back. My girl LOVES my girth.

I have good sensation on my entire penis and my glans is nice and full. I even felt some arousal sensation in it when thinking about sex.

So far, NO regrets and feeling good!

Nice your pain is minimal. Hope it doesn't increase once the nerve block wears off. Be ready with pain meds just in case!
Hot baths were my pain relief almost every morning for a while. Doc is correct, ice is good for the first 24-48 hours, then heat will ease pain and increase blood flow.
Yes, hiding things for the first few weeks is going to be tough. Hope your daughters aren't too suspicious.
