Anyone know one in Pittsburgh? We're supposed to be a huge medical hub, but I've never heard of a "high-volume surgeon" here.
I'll probably be better off flying somewhere else, but would be good to keep a local doctor in the back of my mind just in case.

For a local doctor in Pittsburgh, I would go to AMS Center of Excellence surgeon Paul Rusilko - University of Pittsburgh.
Re: List the high volume implant surgeons in your state
If you contact AMS and contact Coloplast they can probably tell you the names of urology surgeons who implant a lot of their implants.
It’s in their interest to give you that info. Give that a shot and see what turns up.
For a relatively short flight you have Levine in Chicago and Eid in NYC. Those are probably the closest really famous high volume implant surgeons to Pittsburgh.

56yo, NYC. ED started at 40. Pills first, then shots for nearly 10 years. 24cm Coloplast Titan w/classic pump implanted by Dr Eid 3/25/2025.
Re: List the high volume implant surgeons in your state
When we call the manufacturers, this is where they source their information from:
Boston Scientific surgeons:
https://www.edcure.com/us/en/find-a-specialist.html
Coloplast surgeons:
https://www.coloplastmenshealth.com/find-a-physician/
Refine search results by setting "Filter by Treatments" to ED.
You can identify surgeons with Center of Excellence (COE) certification by looking for the COE symbols (see attachments).
What does COE certification mean?
Coloplast: Minimum of 30 implants per year
AMS: Minimum of 25 implants per year
Some do have both and this is an easy indicator of minimum 55 per year.
COE certification may or may not indicate high volume. What defines "high volume"? Perito suggests a minimum of 50 implants per year, though this number is open to interpretation.

Re: List the high volume implant surgeons in your state
Good tip, thanks! If I'm understanding this correctly, only Dr. Paul has the COE stamp, and then another surgeon in West Virginia an hour away. Surprised to see a high-volume surgeon there haha. Wonder who the clientele is.

A lot of these COEs get a steady stream of referrals from the surrounding Uro Oncology practices after a Radical Prostatectomy!
Re: List the high volume implant surgeons in your state

Thank you for this. I have been able to find nothings about the surgeon I am scheduled to meet with in April. I can see that he is listed on the Coloplast site as a COE. I have had a procedure by his partner who is also listed as a COE.
They are:
Doctor Maleeb and doctor Ohl and they both work at University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I can't speak for Dr Ohl, but Maleeb did my urethraplasty and was patient and explained the procedur.
