My surgeon had me shower with Hibicleanse (Sp?) twice a day for a week beforehand. It is behind the counter at your pharmacy but does not require a prescription. You could begin doing that with no risk of harm and possible benefit. My surgeon also had me start oral antibiotics five days prior to surgery. If you are worried about having no premedication, you could call your surgeon's office and request it. S/he might agree.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

Thanks...I talked to the surgeons office. I was told all I needed to do was stop blood thinners, and not eat or drink after midnight. I asked about shaving, and was told not to. Forgot to ask about showering with a surgical scrub before hand, but she didn't mention it. I'm out on a work trip anyways in the middle of nowhere so no access to anything even available online. Oh well...

For my implant surgery my urologist had me shower with an anti-bacteria scrub. But for my recent hernia surgery the surgeon (different doc) did not. I used an over the counter anti-bacteria soap for two days before the surgery as it seemed like a good idea to me.
