Joe,
I made ice bags using Ziploc gallon freezer bags. Double the bag and add water and alcohol 3 to 1(alcohol). It gets really cold and can be used over and over again. Works great.

I could not stand a bag that was extremely cold being on my scrotum after a while -- my testicles began to hurt. So I would remove the bag, give it a little while to warm up a bit, and then put the bag back down on my sac.

You can also lessen the severity of the cold by wrapping the ice bag or cold pack in a thin towel, receiving blanket, diaper etc. The ice will not melt as fast, either.

Take home the hospital urinal with you. For the first couple of days you'll be glad you have it.

You are right, Lost Sheep. I remember now putting the bag of ice in a dish towel (which is thinner, as compared to a hand towel, with is thicker) and then putting it on my sac. That, plus what I shared above, kept The Guys happy -- which kept me happy! :D

I have an appointment on Monday the 19th at UT Southwestern Medical Center hospital with the chair of the urology department for a consult to schedule an implant. I researched the surgeon, Dr. Allen Morey, thoroughly. UT Southwestern Dallas doctors routinely are rated as the finest of Top Docs in Texas. Dr. Morey has an extensive background in urinary reconstruction surgeries of all types and has authored an impressive amount of peer reviewed articles. I'm assuming an implant surgery will be a walk in the park for him, at least I'm hoping. I tried contacting Kramer but never got the promised reply. Also, I'm concerned about traveling so far from Texas and having to ride back in a car for a long 2 day trip after a surgery. I intend to grill Dr. Morey extensively with questions about the procedure I've learned on this site though. Chair of the department of a prestigious hospital is the least of my concerns if he doesn't come across as entirely enthusiastic about doing the procedure!
Became DaveKell 2.0 on July 18th with Dr. Allen Morey in Dallas, TX. AMS 700 CX implant. 18cm with 5.5 RTE's.
