I was first offered an implant over a year ago but pulled out for this very reason. It took me another twelve months of dissatisfaction to finally bite the bullet and go for it. The week after my proceedure I came down with an infection and ended up back in hospital being warned by a junior Dr that my implant would have to be removed, thank heaven's the grown-up Dr turned up and diagnosed a urinary infection.
Only you can repress that fear, I had it up until the day of the operation but if you're not at the point where the sense of fear is overtaken by the shear frustration, then maybe you need to wait a bit longer.
All the best.

It could happen with any operation.
Things can be done to greatly reduce the chances
Proper preop produres
Dr following no touch and operative infection control procedures
Proper post op procedures
If you sense any thing might be wrong contact your dr immediately and follow his instructions and keep him informed on your situation
Er are doc are trained implant surgery
