That goes without saying!

As to concealability, wouldn't something like compression shorts help?
40. Implanted July 5, 2024, by Dr. Andrew Kramer, Urology Associates of Cape Cod. AMS LGX, 21cm cylinders + 2cm RTEs. Idiopathic "hard flaccid" ED following bacterial infection. Tried pulse waves, Cialis, TRT, even spinal injections. Nada.

Perhaps, but I remember some of the Rigi users from India saying they needed to point the penis up in compression shorts instead of down, because of the spring-back. The spring-back made pointing the penis down in shorts painful. And pointing it up made moving around a bit more challenging.

I work in special education and have to be constantly picking up students off the floor or chasing them (I work with students with sever autism and Down syndrome), so I need an implant that is going to be the least of an obstacle. That's why a Genesis with modest diameter rods seems the best solution for me, even though it may be less durable and more limiting in terms of sexual activity.

But people's personal situations are all different. If I were retired I might get a Tactra or Rigicon
Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is sexual health expert Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. Surgery scheduled 5/19/25

Well stated. With Tactra, I found this interesting event report (attached) on the FDA site about bendability. Not sure if there are inadvertent differences in the manufacturing batches.

Individual anatomy also plays a role. That said, I've also interacted with a happy Tactra patient on Facebook who has no complaints about bending and has been using it for 2 years.

Despite varying experiences, with semi-rigid implant materials, it sounds like a tug of war between rigidity+durability and concealability.

Personally, if I were in your position and wanted to swap, I would go to a center of excellence, of course, and have the surgeon give me a demonstration of bendability from their current Rigicon inventory. Every problem you hear about is the consequence of negligence, either on the manufacturing end or the surgical end. It's infuriating.

I hope it softens and gets easier to bend for you by April. I'm having a hard time finding event reports for Rigicon Rigi10 (2019). I'll continue my search. Reports are typically only filed when a complaint leads to a revision or device explantation, as mandated by the FDA.

Regarding Genesis (2004) there are rare reports of the silver core experiencing fatigue/fractures after prolonged usage, which Coloplast has acknowledged in the notes. These incidents result in a loss of bend memory and axial rigidity.

For the Tactra (2019), there are no manufacturer acknowledged reports of Nitinol fractures so far, which is good. However, there are rare reports of discomfort, pain, and problems with curvatures that are not fixable by hand adjustments. Some reports indicate that these curvatures compromise axial rigidity, leading to buckling. A small number have reported that the device does not bend for consealment post-implantation.

Boston Scientific seems to indicate in the notes that these are known features and risks in the world of prosthetics and not a bug. I will buy this, as long as manufacturers also don't forget the feature called "continuous improvement" ;)

Here's the MedWatch FDA link for consumers/patients to report medical device quality issues. This applies to all devices regulated by the US FDA.

Online form for submission:
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/ ... reporting1

While not mandatory, FDA encourages reporters to provide their contact information in case FDA needs to gather more information. Note that reporters can request, within the report, FDA not release their contact information to the manufacturer.

MedWatch Online allows reporters to start a report and complete it within 3 days. Reporters can save an incomplete report and provide an email address to receive instructions on how to complete & submit a report with Report ID and Report Date.

Note that after submitting, you cannot retrieve the report and edit it. However, you can start a new report and supply more information about the case. Please include the suspect product and a brief summary of the adverse events, medical/product use errors, or product quality issues. Other information such as the reporter and the patient characteristics (if available) should also be provided again. This may appear repetitive, but it helps the FDA connect the new report with the previously submitted one.
