I started a new job and at the same time the infection from the first implant resurfaced. It was nowhere near as bad as the first time. Another issue was the left implant was done incorrectly and was not in the proximal corpora. So basically the proximal part was floating freely in the perineum area. This is not good for a host of reasons.
I can’t say enough about Dr. Hakky in Atlanta. When he did the initial exam, he set me up for an immediate revision to correctly install another malleable implant, and to fix some of the issues that he found when doing the initial exam. He presents things openly and honestly, he manages expectations and he’s just a guys guy.
I am looking at 5 to 6 months minimum before I can make the decision of staying with a malleable or moving back to the titan. I’m OK with that because I’ve now had three surgeries in as many months. I’m tired of being poked and prodded and stuck with needles.
It’ll be at least four weeks before he will clear me for any type of action, and at this point, I’m gonna be the best patient in the world and listen to everything doc says.
The best advice I can give is look for the best surgeon you can afford even if it means traveling. Look for one that’s a center of excellence with one of the implant companies. Make sure they’re high volume and specify that they’re not just a high-volume surgical center, that they are high-volume for specifically implant surgery. I probably won’t add much to this other than to answer questions until I’m healed up enough to take this unit out for a test spin.
I just got home from the revision surgery and this is the first time I was able to do so without a catheter, and that’s nice cause I freaking hate catheters. I’m heading to bed and I will check this tomorrow to see if anybody has any specific questions.
hello brother, I remembered that you had surgery planned and I prayed a lot for you.
we are all brothers here.
you will slowly recover, don't worry.
I hope you keep us updated on everything because we really need it.
for now the only question I can ask you, given the honesty of the surgeon, did he tell you that over the years the malleable prosthesis pierces the glans? (extrusion).
thank you.
