I did 9 years of TriMix and 7+ years of it were pure magic - no discomfort to speak of and steel girder erections for hours upon hours. It was awesome. There were logistical drawbacks others have mentioned which were occasionally surely a pain in the ass, but the trade offs for me during those years were well worth the crazy sex we were able to have.

The last 2 years of TriMix I was getting remarkably less effect (poorer erection quality/hardness/duration) even in the context of aggressively increasing the concentration and volume of drug, so I started seriously studying up on implantation. But during those last 2 years, absolutely, we could still have sex. I got hard enough and we could do most of what we wanted to do. But it was a clearly declining situation and it was a diminishing of a standard/expectation we had been long accustomed to. More in my view than in my wife's, as it turns out. But how could she truly deeply know the mental gymnastics and anxiety I was having?

So for me, no regrets whatsoever. Count me as the cheerleader for implants at that point where injections' effects wane. My thought process was, "let's just fucking get on with this if we're going this direction". I had no interest in milking another year or two out of TriMix by tweaking drug/volume, enduring increasing pain, and having to modulate/lessen our sexual activities to accomodate my increasingly uncooperative dick.

I guess it's just very personal and individual, really, because probably the erections I was having those last 2 years of TriMix (the ones I'm complaining about here and which led me to implant) those maybe would have been awesome in the mind of another guy who's in a different situation. Just not for me. Once I knew what an unrelenting steel-bar dick could do for hours on end, it was entirely impossible for me to un-know that. A drop off in erection quality and longevity was unacceptable for me. So I don't miss injections. We had unbelievably good experiences with them. I'm just glad I aggressively moved forward.

I will say that my way of thinking took some time for my wife to really internalize and understand. She was not grasping the degree of mental and physical difficulty I was experiencing those last 2 years. Not grasping it because, of course, I did everything I could to obscure it all from her.

You ask if there are "work arounds" with an implant. I'm not sure I understand? Curious what you mean by this. Mine is 100% reliable and functionally unstoppable and I certainly hope it stays this way.

Each person, therefore, has to weigh the pros and cons and risks of an action they are going to take. I've had terrible results with Trimix. Will I try a different formulation? Perhaps, but it's been almost two weeks and my dick still hurts from the latest injection-- 30-1-10 80 units with no usable erection and what happened lasted less than an hour. I may give it another chance, but my gut is telling me go bionic! Unless my wife of 50 years threatens to divorce me or my doc tells me it's certain I'll die from it, I'm going to take the step.

Don't wish me luck, just that I'll make a good decision.

My PCP said I was healthy enough for an implant--just that I'd need to adjust my Coumadin around the operation. My cardiologist is next.

I’ve been using Trimix for almost 4 years and the doses have been going up and up to get the same effect. Now written for quadmix and my urologist indicated I need to start thinking about what I’ll do if this script starts to fail.

I’m only 52yo and suspect my insurance won’t cover an implant but I’ll have to do more research on that front.
55yo, NYC. ED started at 40. 50 units BiMix + Atropine (Pap 30/Phen 6/Atr 0.2). Prostaglandins caused aching. Doses increasing. A cock ring helps. Phallosan Forte tension devise to maintain size. Eager to talk about implant experiences.
