20 year old looking for help on process of getting implant (Midwest)
Re: 20 year old looking for help on process of getting implant (Midwest)
Have you looked a Levine's web page? looks as his practice is a full service sexual medicine clinic. Before implanting, yo should explore injections. Nothing is better than a blood filled dick. Implants just make it stiff. You may end up with a stiff dick and cold soft meat hanging on it. That is what I had after all my nerves were removed during a prostatectomy. Have you watched the u-tube videos explaining how your penis actually works and what triggers blood flow. Also there is work being done to explore how to create an erection using nerve triggers from your upper thigh. That work is being explored in Australia. Look at all avenues before you leap into an implant.

For me I schedule a phone consultation with clavell, told him pills have mostly stopped working and i dont want to try injections i am interested in an implantat. An hour later i was being scheduled for surgery. I read every post here on FT that sounded interesting back to 2018 before the appointment. Wrote down any questions. Super simple if you dont mind traveling. I chose Clavell because he is high volume and young, odds are he could do a revision if need.
Just scheduled a phone consultation with clavell!! I will have to wait until October 2nd though unless a slot opens up which I really hope it does but even if it doesn't atleast I'm making some progress. Did you have a long wait time until you had the consultation? and how long did you have to wait for the surgery after scheduling? Thanks for answering
I had to wait longer for the consultation than the surgery. I don’t remember exactly but it was like a month for the consultation and then a couple weeks to get surgery and the surgery part was only that long because i needed to schedule time off work. I took a week off, wish i could have done two weeks but it was fine. I have an office job, if you lift things you will want 2-3 weeks off if you can swing it. If you work from home i would have only needed a couple days.
how would you rate how he did on your implant? and yeah I do security but its really calm I basically sit all day but ill probably still opt for a longer time off.

I do plan on trying injections before my appointment with clavell just so that if they don't work I don't have to wait longer . Im just not that hopeful they'll work because on the propeciahelp forum or aka post finasteride/accutane/ssri syndrome forums a bunch of people have tried them and still nothing. Now my issue is finding a local urologist to prescribe them

I think clavell did great work, he put in the perfect size, pump location couldnt be better, very little pain post op. The only negative is one piece of tubing is too long. I would highly recommend Clavell.

Living where you do, I would recommend that you make an appointment with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. There is no reason to be flying around the country. Just call URO Scheduling at 507-266-3066 and say you would like to see a doctor about 'longstanding ED.' Have your BCBS card available to give them the numbers. They will schedule a consultation with someone who works only with men who have this problem. They will take a history from you and might have some tests. They talk to men every day, all day, about ED. You don't have to even say the words erectile dysfunction, just say ED. Everyone will treat at the clinic you with respect and being younger is not weird or strange. Problems like this do not need to continue, you just need to address them, solve them and move on. You are young and you need to be ready to get married and have a good sex life and a bunch of kids.
You will probably meet with a uro physician's assistant, and if you do, know that they are absolutely great in figuring out your next steps. They will do a workup to see if your general health is possibly a reason for the ED but know this: I got married at 27 and struggled with ED my entire married life. I used the various drugs until they did not work, then injections, and then after suffering even more years of frustration and failure, went to the Mayo Clinic. (I had a prostate surgery too.)
After a workup, if there are no other problems like a heart problem, they will discuss options. Obviously, medication is the first response, but if you get to the consideration of a penile implant, don't be put off. A penile implant is not considered a difficult surgery in the world of uro-surgery, and you can assume competence. With all due respect to those who swear by high volume 'implanters' a competent surgeon can do the procedure. I had a great experience and a great result. I was more anxious about it than I needed to be. Be advised that at some point, if the conversation is going in the direction of an implant, they will need to hear you say that 'I want to do this.' Doctors need informed consent and the consent part of that comes from you. You can take care of this problem! Good luck and if you want to discuss this by private message I will keep an eye out for your questions.
