I was where you are now. I did pills for a few years, then shots for nearly 10 years. But the hassle, planning, lack of spontaneity…
Regarding the cost. Look at your insurance policy and read through the exclusions page. That will tell you a lot. The front office folks at the surgeons office should be able to tell you if your insurance will cover it as well. They can ask for preapproval.
After years of shots I got tired of them (and they stopped working so well). I just got implanted on Tuesday 3/25/2025.
The tipping point for me was having an in-person show and tell. To be able to see and feel the flaccid, operate the pump, and feel the rigidity got me off the fence. I called the surgeons office the next day. You’ll find the show and tell post in the members only section. Search that post for your city/area/state and see if there is someone nearby who would meet you to demo. Your surgeon’s office might have a list of patient names/number who are willing to talk about their experience. I found that helpful as well.
There are a bunch of implant journals out in the implant section. I started one as well. Read through as many posts as you can.
