I don't understand the point of posting this statistic, it's rather meaningless.

If 10,000 IPPs are implanted per year, over the course of 20 years that's 200,000 implants "out in the wild". If 30% of one year's implants are revisions, that's 3000 revisions annually. Divide that by the 200K in use and you get an annual failure rate of 1.5%.

That's exactly in line with industry stats of 1-2% needing revision annually.

20,000 to 25,000 IPPs are installed every year in the USA. 50% of them fail every 20 years according to studies. How would you tweak your statistical calculations in that case?

If I use my IPP for 30 minutes sex in the morning and another 30 minutes sex every evening, every day, how long do you think the device would last?

Your calculation is completely wrong..you divided anual failure rate by 20 years implantations...you should be dividing anual by anual and 20 years span by 20 years span.

And it's not 3k failures per year it's atleast 4.2 k...refer to lasthope's monthly post of ipps failures reported on MAUDE...also consider that not all failures are reported (there are multiple reasons for this but nvm we will take it as is)....yet there are ~350 failures per month reported.
If we consider that 22 k are implanted every year in the u.s (i believe that's a hoax number for multiple reasons as well but again nvm) , then yearly failure rate is 4.2k/22k...that's approx. 20% YEARLY failure rate.

Also why is coloplast's statistic that ragingbul posted meaningless ? Is it because you just don't like it ?

I didn't create this post to "cheerlead" or to celebrate my 5 months out of surgery. Nor did I want I people to start posting stats and argue about revisions and reliability and argue about shit.

I found the first section of your post on reliability and the praiseworthy and transparent statistic published by Coloplast (kudos to Coloplast for stepping up!) to be entirely relevant. You'll probably find most of the guys that have had their implants for 5-10 years +, aren't on here anymore. They're off living their lives just enjoying their implant not thinking about it

Aussie guy is right. I am actually on my 2nd implant as i just had revision. My original lasted 8 years. And after a while i no longer checked in on FT until i need the revision. As soon as mine failed i was on the phone for replacement. No hesitation at all. Hoping this one lasts even longer. 10-15 years would be great !
