Thank you for your journal. I will be reading it closely. I have an appointment scheduled at the end of January to discuss implant surgery in Seattle.
I started about 4 years ago with a couple of failures and thought it was due to too much alcohol so I stopped that. But that was just the beginning of my downward spiral. I started on T injections, then Clomid, back to T injections with HCG and Anastrozole to keep my libido up. But my erections gradually have kept getting less and less. Viagra and all those stopped working so I went to trimix and it worked like a champ but my clinic switched pharmacies and those slowly stopped working. They went back to the old pharmacy due to complaints but I haven't tried the old formula again yet. Too scared to be honest. I'm afraid of more failures. My wife and I have been so depressed about this we just wanted to die. We are both 55 years old, exercise daily, eat pretty good, not overweight and this is our reward. Life can be so cruel.
So anyway, I have finally considered doing this as my last resort.
My Journal
Re: My Journal
Problems began in 2011 at 51 yo. I did testosterone/HCG/Anastrozole but it didn't fix erections. Pills and tri-mix worked then failed. Had AMS 700 CX installed on Feb 2nd 2016 by Dr. Thomas Walsh at University of Washington.
Re: My Journal
Ha! I hear you loud and clear. & I can confidently say you won't regret it. Good luck! and at least you made it to your 50s before having any issues.

Re: My Journal
Here it is, for the people who wants to know the costs:
All fees to Dr.Eid (consultation, implant procedure, OR, anesthesia, recovery room, Coloplast implant): 25,771 USD
Medicines as requested by Dr.Eid (no insurance, bought at Duane reade in New York): 129 USD
Bentley Hotel (200 meters from Dr.Eid's office, a few blocks away from the clinic where surgery is performed), 11 nights excl breakfast: 2,021 USD
Taxi JFK-Hotel-JFK: 120 USD
Only cost missing is the medical escort from clinic to hotel after surgery. This is required since I am here alone. Anyone having a relative or similar with them would not need this. I don't remeber what the cost for that is.
Total: 28,041 USD.
Of course, I had the cost of business class tickets to NY from Europe and all the living costs (food) in NY for 11 days as well...
A hefty sum, but I hope I get the best possible result by choosing a world-class surgeon.
Worth knowing about the hotel, which was recommended by Eid's staff, is that there is no room service. Only dinner can be ordered from the hotel restaurant, but must be picked up by oneself at the restaurant.
There are options for breakfast, lunch, dinner to be delivered from external restaurants though.
I haven't tried it yet though.
The days before surgery I will go out and eat.
The first few days after surgery, I will just eat food I will prepare in advance. Fruit, bread, nutrition bars, juices etc. I don't even want the hassle of opening the door, signing the bill and having to talk to someone the first few days. Just stay alone in bed.

Thanks for the info. I am sure it will help many plan ahead. Even those who are insured will have hotel, escort, meal, and taxi expenses and often meds are not covered by insurance. Best of luck to you! d

Re: My Journal
Just got back to hotel from my pre-op examination with Eid.
Office doesn't look like much from the outside. Not what I had expected to be honest.
Anyway, Eid and his staff are professional.
Eid showed me pictures of previous patients, discussed again what to expect, answered all my questions.
My main question, which I have tried to get answered here as well, is if I am stupid to do this. Is what I have bad enought to do this, or is this a treatment for people with far worse problem than I have? At least I can have sex with pills for 5-10 minutes in the right positions, with the right pace of in-and-out. Even though I am restricted and constantly worrying whether it will stay up, but 9 out of 10 with pills I get very hard and stay very hard for a 5-10 minutes quickie without changing positions. Without pills though, it's absolote rubbish.
Eid's answer: No you are not stupid at all. You are too young to have such a low quality of sex life. I do many younger patients who are younger than you and have less severe problems than you. A man your age should easily be able to have sex for 30-40 minutes with good erection quality.'
Alright. I am on.
The bladder examination was quite uncomfortable, but hey, it's for a good cause.
The ultrasound showed, in Eid's words: *Wow, that's a huge venous leak. Huge. Very huge.'
He said there is no way I can maintain a good erection for a sustainable time. According to him the limit is normally around 20%. Meaning if the outflow is 20% of the inflow, then forget to maintain an erection. Less than 20% it might work, but quality will suffer badly. I had 45% on one side (the left side, same side as to which my penis curves) and 25% on the right side.
So much for Sclerotherapy curing venous leak...
The injection to give me an 'erection' before the ultrasound worked as bad as it did when Dr. Kuehhas (the sclero therapy doctor) examined me before sclero. I just got a fuller penis, no hardness. Anyway, he measured it with some stretching as well to 16-16.5 cm length and 14 cm girth (6.3-6.5 length and 5.5 girth for you inch-guys). Same as I measure when I have a good erection. Well maybe I would say I measure my length to rather 16.5-17, but that is with an engorged glans on my best day and maybe with a bit of creative measurement as well, I don't know.
Anyway, Eid sayd he'll guarantee that my erect measurements after the implant will be 16 long and 14 girth. Fair enough. I like his transparency and accountabiltiy.
He will try out sizes during surgery, but his best guess he'll use 22 cm cylinders, no RTEs. He always uses Coloplast Titan for younger men. Maybe he'll use two different length cylinders due to my curvature, but he can't say till during surgery. Probably he will, but not sure. If so probably 21 and 22 long cylinders or maybe even 20 and 22. But again, this must be tried out and fitted during surgery.
I am on for 1 pm tomorrow. All set.

The sclero did however kick my butt and made me talk openly to my wife. Even to get her to tell me straight to my face how a 'normal' erection works. Based on the handful of experiences she had before meeting me. This, coupled with getting a taste after the sclero how good it could/should be, made me take the decision to go for the implant.
Would you mind sharing with us what how your wife described how a ''normal'' erection usually works? Since I suffered from ED all my life, I have no clue. I don't think porn is a good reference either...
By this time, I assume your operation is over... I pray God it went well!
I'm 39 years old. Never was able to maintain my erections for more than 1 minute. Pills don't work. Had sclerotherapy by Dr. Kuehhas in Austria in 2016. Didn't work. Injections (Caverject) are the only things that gave me acceptable results.

We are all anxious to hear back from you as to how you are doing. The amount of time money and effort that has gone into your journey is staggering....now lets get a great outcome to make it all worthwhile!!
