Question about LGX

This now/old information (I had seen the article and the table before, but did not pay attention to the overall length figures-only the bending and buckling strengths that were the subject of the article) has made me rethink my opinion.

I am poring over the AMS Operating Room Instructions that accompany the AMS LGX and AMS CX devices, particularly how the patient is measured and size of implant is chosen and subsequently fitted.

Does the (in particular) my 18cm LGX have the capacity to lengthen my penis, or was I measured to be fitted at maximum length to the expanded implant?

As always, only a laymans opinion. But I understand your now dilemma. To the best of my reading here. I've yet to see much info on which measuring method a surgeon used on a patient. So as to how your implant length was arrived at is a mystery. Even if you talked to your doctor & he said that he uses the newer method now. How do you know when he changed his method?
Even farther down the rabbit hole. It is my suspicion that this measuring confusion could very well explain the size variations reported by some LGX members.
Towards this, I dwell on a quick statement that Dr. Brant said towards the end of my exam. To paraphrase him. If I return in a year not having any size gain that he'd know that I was lying about my cycling. I suspect that was his "wink wink, nod nod" to his sizing policy. Monty Python fans will understand that phrase.

Ultimately, the best way to know decisively is to get the surgical notes. DISTAL MEASURE (xx cm), PROXIMAL MEASURE (xx cm), Total measurement, "xx + xx" (or whatever) = XXXX cm. Then compare the measured distal/proximal lengths against the device that they implanted which can be found on the wallet info card if the surgeon affixed the labels as he should have.

If the distal+proximal is 24cm and he implanted a 21cm total device length, he factored in expansion of the device into his decision. If the measurements equal or are very close to the device total length, there is likely more expansion left in the implant beyond your measured length.

If you cannot get or the doctor didn't record surgical notes, then that makes things much more difficult to figure out.
