Just worried why I hear an air pumping sound without the cylinders filling sometimes, whereas other times it inflates properly
When I spoke with the Patient Liaison for AMS regarding the "swish" or "squish" sound I hear from time to time, which is really air-bubbles in the system, she said they prime the system before insertion to try to minimize air in the lines but it's impossible to completely prevent the air in the tubings, cylinders, and pump. It's even going to introduce a small bubble whenever the tubing is connected.
With this information, she advised me that it's preferred to get all of the bubbles encouraged to go into the reservoir which is partially permeable and will eventually diffuse the bubbles into the patient's body to be absorbed.
If you have enough air in your implant, it might help to try to encourage the bubbles toward the pump and ultimately toward the reservoir. It might require some contortionist positions or acrobatics and time to accomplish this though.
