I think someone asked for measurements.. For those interested, I found on my mayo app that I am;

Stretched Penile Length: 18 cm (to tip)
15 cm (to corona)

For the reservoir, Dr. Kohler said there is 2 different sizes with the titan and that he used the bigger one for me. The size of the reservoir goes by penis size I guess.

Here is a thorough update of my surgery.

9/19: went in for my doppler and blood test. What a miserable experience.. Got 10 units of the trimix.. best erection I have had since age 19. That being said, I experienced awful priapism. It lasted 3.5 hours. It took not 1,2 or 3.. BUT 4 phenylephrine shots to the penis to get my boner to go down, as well as 60 mg of sudafed, which reflected excellent venous system. However, what the surgeons saw (two were watching the doppler) was "remarkably low arterial inflow despite erectile quality for someone as young and fit as you are". I want to say my peak inflow was 10 cm/s when it should be in the 80s... So essentially what is going on with me is I have the very opposite of a venous leak.

9/19 evening: After that appointment, I went back to the hotel. Went and got some food and waited until 8:15pm, which was the time to call an automated number to check on when to report for surgery.. After calling, we discovered I would arrive at 9:04am the following morning for surgery.

9/20 (day of surgery): I arrived at 8:45am and the nurse had me called back around 9:25am. They put me in a room and got my scrubs on and did all the stuff you need to do before going in for surgery. Before I knew it, I was being hauled down to the surgery room and once the anesthesia face mask was on me, I was out like a light.

9/20 (after surgery): When I woke up, it was about 12pm. Not sure how long they operated on me for, but after laying there for 30 minutes or so, I realized even then how much pain I had. They decided to keep me over night and they pumped me full of meds all night. I tried to pee on my own but I couldn't, so they had to put a catheter back in. There were times where my pain was 10/10. In tears. They got my pain under control to about a 5/10 with pain meds and me not moving at all...

9/21: After the first night in the hospital, they were very adamant on getting me out that day.. I have no idea why. I was in a great deal of pain, was still not peeing on my own, etc. Anyway, we were discharged at 6pm and sent home on out 5 hours and 30 minute car ride home. It was not pleasant. I had flu symptoms and ran a 101 fever. Had lots of pain and swelling as expected.

9/22: As of 9/22 which is the day I write this, I have a lot of swelling in the penis and scrotum. I think my penis has only gotten more swollen though. Tomorrow I have an appointment at 9am to have my catheter out AGAIN to see if I can pee on my own. If I can't, then I will have to get a new one put in again. I am really nervous about not being able to pee on my own, but nurses are saying that happens to people sometimes after having surgery. Anyone who has had this not being able to pee issue please let me know.

That sounds awful, did you drive on your own? You mentioned they messed up, is it by not injecting enough pain meds before/during surgery? I hope you feel better in a week or so.

My Dad came with me and drove me so that was good. They required me to have someone with me.. And I am thinking that when I woke up a lot of my pain meds maybe wore off and then was playing catch up with the pain. I think I was also one of those cases that just didnt get lucky as far as recovery, at least within the first week because thats about how far I am.. Thank you for the kind words, I hope so too!

Minnesota,

I am so glad you got through the horrible pain you had, I felt so sorry for you. I had my surgery early in the morning, same as you on the same day, they had me on 1000mg Tylenol and Oxycodone as needed and they staggered these two, so I was getting one or the other every 4 hours which managed my pain very well. I once asked for another Oxy when the pain was coming back faster than before, and it worked very well. Doctor's orders were pain meds as needed, but not to exceed 3,000 mg Tylenol each 24 hours.

I think we are doing about the same with the coloring and swelling, but my pubic area and scrotum are still pretty swollen.

I know exactly what you mean about the sudden but short scrotum pain as well as the razor burn. That is what I think it is, the hair is growing out and it rubs against your thigh and clothing. Yesterday it felt like the skin of my scrotum was on fire, it was miserable until this morning I put some Aquaphor Healing Ointment on it. The Aquaphore looks very much like Vaseline that might be all it is, but that lubrication took the burn away almost immediately. I wish I had known about it yesterday!

I was instructed not to sit upright in a straight chair, they gave the example of a wooden kichen table chair, for 6 weeks. I had never heard of that restriction when reading other men's recoveries, but there is something to it. I was told to lay flat or in a recliner or use a foot stool, but not the 90 degree angles. The first time I felt pain from this is the first time I sat on the toilet, holy crap, the pain was pretty bad and seemed worse if I spread my knees apart. Second time on the crapper was not much different. If I do sit upright without my feet raised I get a strong pulling sensation horizontally across my scrotum. I do not know what causes this, my suspicion is the surgeon may have tacked something in place to hold it in position and sitting upright pulls those stitches. That is my guess, I will put it on my list of questions. Have you had this Minnesota?

Surprisingly to me, I have had no pain ever in my penis. Most of my pain and discomfort has been in the reservoir placement area and the scrotum. The only discomfort I have in my penis is a slight burning sensation when I pee, and they told me to expect that from the catheter. It feels like when you have a bladder infection, it only is uncomfortable when I pee. Same for you?

I followed the recommendations of Stmfttr on this forum, he recommended the Tommy John briefs, I got the trunk length, and I recommend them too.
they have a horizontal fly and you put your dick through the fly, and it rides around all day like a baby kangaroo with it head popping out, they also keep your dick pointing toward your navel. I also followed the baby sock recommendation, between the two it is very comfortable.

I haven't even tried to find the pump yet, too swollen and tender to be poking around.

I was told I would have a in office appointment in 2 weeks and this morning I received a text that my appointment will be in 3 weeks. I hope this doesn't cause a problem.

Sounds like you are doing great and I know we won't regret this. I enjoy your posts.

Hey AmansinCali!

I honestly think they did all they could with the pain, mine just happened to be so bad that it took more than normal pain medication to get me from feeling miserable like I was.

My swelling is actually comepletely gone on my penis. My sac is closer to my pre-op size than right out of surgery.. I never was really swollen in the pubic area.. weird how I didn’t get any there. I am glad you understand the sudden pains! I never see anyone really complaining about what we are describing.. Regarding the Aquaphor, do you go right over the sutures as well on the incision sight? I am afraid to get that area too moist and open it up somehow.

Sitting at my kitchen table chair that is wood, straight up does cause discomfort. I wouldn’t say I get a pulling sensation, but more so in the perineum area.

And as far as no pain in the penis for you but pain in the reservoir… Completely opposite of me. Tbh I forgot about the reservoir. I don’t even feel it so I forgot it was there. My penis on the otherhand was vey painful until day 5. It is doing well now, looks normal, just a little shorter than before (haven’t measured). I do feel a little pain when peeing. My urethra is always irritated tho so I am used to it. It gets really sensitive to certain drinks I have, especially alcohol. I also have not messed with my pump. I am not supposed to until my post-op appointment 3 weeks in. Honestly, I have just been naked 24/7. As I described with the scrotum pain, my skin is too sensitive to touch anything. Ive tried many different thing but none seem to help.

Is my penis supposed to face straight up at my navel? Right now, it is 60% inflated and sits at a 45 degree angle while standing up, all day.

I look forward to staying up to date with your progress and wish us both a great recovery

Thanks for the note, Minnesota, hopefully our bantering back and forth will help others the way others helped us.

I have not had any bleeding from my sutures since leaving the hospital, when I left a nurse put a strip of yellow gauze over my sutures, she said this is just a Vaseline with an antibiotic in it to keep the wound moist. I didn't put the Aquaphor on it until yesterday which is 6 days. I think the sutures are well sealed up, but that Auquaphor really calmed down the balls on fire feeling.

Isn't it strange how two men, same implant, same scrotal approach have such different outcomes?

My reservoir area has calmed down and I no longer am reminded of it.

I do have a question for you, at the base of my penis on the right side I have a bump, knot about the size of a bean. I massage it and it goes down a little, it is totally painless, just wondering if this is where the tubing from the pump enters the cylinder. Do you have anything like that?

I am glad to hear you are going to have your after-surgery visit at 3 weeks, I was originally told it would be 2 weeks, but when the scheduler called it was 3 weeks. I go in 10/10. When is yours, comparing notes after the visit will be interesting? I don't meet with the doctor, but his PA. Dr. Yafi is a researcher as well as a professor at the University of CA Irvine, he only does surgery once a week, each Tuesday and does four implants each week. There were several of his residence MD's observing the surgery.I have already met the PA and I am sure it won't be any different than seeing the doctor.

My discharge doctor told me it is a good idea to support the scrotum, so I have been doing that with some Tommy John underwear.

As far as angle of dangle, the first time I saw my dick post-surgery it was pointing towards my stomach, but off to the side. When I stand up it is in the 3 o'clock position and angled to the left. I am hope with inflation and cycling it will straighten out some, but if not this angle is entirely usable.

I went into this not worrying about my size after surgery, most everyone says they appear shorter after surgery, but the length slowly comes back. So, I don't worry about that at all.

Like I said, I am so glad you are through all of that pain, I felt so bad for you when I was just cruising. I showed your post to my wife and she was wincing reading it.

Take care my friend.

Minnesota I forgot to mention I am still taking 1000mg of Tylenol 3 times a day, I think it helps. How about you?

I had the needles sensation in the sac, felt like ant bites. It will soon subside on the 2nd week. My doc told me to hang naked for a while, I did 2 weeks and just let it hang. I sometimes wrapped a ice baggy to my nuts.

Good to hear you two are doing better Minnesota#2 and AmansinCali.
The first two weeks had me asking myself what the hell did I let them do to me?
Good you're comparing notes so others learn how differently two guys heal.

Absolutely, AmansinCali! This forum is what gave me the edge to finally decide on going the route of implanting, even at 27 years old where I literally need this implant the rest of my life, which is ok with me. As long as things work, I am happy. Other men of all ages should feel the same way! But I get how tough it can be and how big of a decision it is to make.

As for the Aquaphor, I have been using Neosporin on the sutures. Seems to work well. I think a lot of my irritation was a mix of things… But the sutures poking me as well on the ends, and also where it was scabbing. I also shaved before the surgery so the hairs growing in didn't help, but I. shaved today carefully and it helped. But as you said, It really is crazy how differently people heal… I still can’t stand up long without my balls just killing me. And I gave up on wearing absolutely anything to support my scrotum. My skin is too sensitive. The best thing I have found is I literally walk around with a big bed sheet around me and walk around and lounge with nothing under it. I just hold it all up from ooutside my sheet and stay home lol!

As for sleeping, I can’t lie flat, even with something supporting my balls. I also can’t lay on my sides because I feel so much pressure down there. Do you have the too AmansinCali?

As far as the bump on the side of the base of your penis, I have no idea.. Sorry I am not of any help.. I don’t have that at all. Maybe start a thread on that?

My appointment is 10/11, so we are right on the same schedule my friend!! Nice to follow our journeys and help others. A lot of the work has been passed down to my surgeons fellowship doctor too.

Mine penis is in the 3 o’clock position standing up too. They said it is inflated 60%. To be honest, getting kinda old just not doing much and hiding it lol. Kinda funny I couldn’t keep a boner to save my life but now have one 24/7 around the clock going on day 10 tomorrow lol!

Same as you, I am not going to worry about size either. Sounds like it slowly comes back with cycling and using it.

Sorry for the late response. Look forward to hearing back from you and I hope you are recovering well.
