Day 24 Almost There! This past Friday was three weeks since my surgery, which makes today day 24. The swelling of my testes is pretty much gone, I have a little swelling on the right side. I had glue strips added to the incision when this stitches were removed a week ago. I was told they would fall off on their own in 3 to 7 days. They are kind of half off and I tried to gently nudge them in the shower this morning. I was able to take off most of it because I saw they were just stuck on the hairs on either side of the incision. A bit uncomfortable, but not bad. There is still one glue strip on the bottom that I left alone because it is also covering the bottom of the incision.
I still have some swelling or a lump on the left side of my pubic bone, but it is less painful than it was. Not sure if this is where the reservoir is or possibly tubing? I am able to easily feel the pump, which seems twice as large as the model I was given (this could be because of surrounding tissue). Still a bit tricky to feel the release valve, I think I do, but I’m not sure. I am tempted to give it a few pumps, but then I am nervous I won’t be able to release the fluid. I have a doctor’s appointment in two days so I think I can wait another two days to get checked out and hopefully activate in the doctor’s office. Dr. Eid will be back from vacation and he will take a look. I’m interested to get his opinion, but I also love working with his nurse Practitioner who is very gentle and encouraging.
The most important thing is that I am starting to feel positive again, that this could actually work out for me. The recovery has been so difficult, plus this has been a very challenging year healthwise for me (angioplasty surgery for a brain aneurysm this past January) it has been tough on me mentally and emotionally. It’s still hard for me to fathom that I will be able to once again have intercourse, seems too good to be true, but I believe I am getting close! Thank you to everyone for your encouragement.
Update, 6 hours later: I was able to inflate and deflate several times! Only 3 to 4 pumps, but still… I can’t believe I’ve made it to the other side. You mean, after all this suffering, something good is actually going come out of all this? Yay!
