Is it time for implant?????

Hi everybody,
First post here... Prostate Ca survivor at age 51. Had RP in November 2016 with bilateral nerve spearing according to my surgeon which after 12 months I really started to doubt because I did not have the slightest sign of life in my penis.
Recovered continence 99% in couple of months. Very active and in excellent shape. Very healthy, not overweight, non smoker, non drinker, love strong espresso coffee.
Recovery of my erectile function after RP did not go anywhere, still on ground zero where I was when awaken after RP surgery.
Tried PDE5 inhibitors like Cialis and Viagra starting at 8 weeks after surgery with no results even after full dose of Cialis or Viagra. Tried combination of both like 50 mg Viagra and 20 mg Cialis or vise versa with zero success. At 4 months started VED pump and tried 3 different type of pumps with no success even with the smallest tension ring. It deflates faster then BMW from 0-60. Lots of discomfort with pumps like swelling, bruising, discoloration with blood hematoma, to much water in the skin of penile shaft etc. At 5 1/2 months started penile injections using TRIMIX which was very painful but I used 2 vials. Switched to BIMIX which is more tolerable and less painful. By now injected 100+ times. Lately, my hand starts shaking while trying to inject an nd getting more of unease feelings while injecting which make me do more and more errors. Whenever, erection is needed which does not happen so often, I missed it.
Now, almost 19 months post RP, I feel I hit the bottom. I am in the middle of nowhere. Want to enjoy life but I am not able.
After RP I lost 2+ inches of length and rest of penis is totally buried inside me.
I have second navel down there where penis used to hang. I have to sit to urinate. Nothing to pull out of my pants to urinate like normal guys do.
At good days, I have 1 inch of shaft and glans (penis head).
Since RP, my QoL is on downhill.
Since 18 months mark, I started to think about implant. Is it too early?
Would like to hear from other prostate Ca patients especially those who hAd surgery? What do younger survivors think?
I appreciate any response.

MK,
I’m not younger, but I’ve been through the same deal, just on a more compressed time scale. My RP was March 2017, dead dick, VED, pills, shots, zero. Implanted August 2017. I did not want to wait, and I’m glad I didn’t.
It’s great to not have an innie or a dead dick.
PM me any time.

I’m just curious, how long is your penis fully erected? Would you be happy with that size after implant?

Your story sounds like mine except the URO told me he took all my nerves. Chances of a natural erection is 1 in a trillion. Also injection pain was extreme and started to cause scaring and a bent dick. Scaring can cause complications during implants. I also passed out once injecting. My wife really wanted it and I missed the spot on top of everything else. What a bitch. So I went to implant at 9 months post RP. I started VED at 4 weeks. just enough to get blood flow every day. That stops shrinkage and is recommended before implant by some surgeons. Make implant easier to work on a live dick. During implant, a good surgeon does not destroy the blood supply path to the casanova muscle. There are guys here that get natural erection when stimulated that adds to the implant erection. So if you do get an erections path later, it really is not a total loss. The implant process is painful but worth it. The only regret I ever see here is guys wish they had done it sooner. I lost 2 inches from RP, even with VED every day for 30min and injections every 4 days. I am still 1 in shorter but my surgeon says it will all be back in a year. AMS700 lgx will grow 20% length and girth and I feel like the implant is pushing on the glans even when deflated. Trying to stretch the skin back out. Go for it. Pm me any time.

newtoed,
My erect penis after injection is just around 3 inches. Used to be 5.5 inches before surgery. When using VED it goes past 4 sometimes to 4.5 but is just like water balloon and deflates fast after out of cylinder.

Get your implant now before the atrophy sets in permanently. A good surgeon will be able to restore your original length if you don't wait too long. Let your Dr decide which version of which manufacturer is the best fit for your anatomy. Best of luck!

Yes have it done. Best thing I ever done after prostrate surgery left me with ED.

"Can anyone recommend good experienced implant surgeon in Houston, Texas?"

A competent urologist that does several implants a year should work. I had good luck with my mine.

MK1965,
Nobody but you can tell you it is time for an implant, but my personal philosophy is when you have tried other treatments and they don't work, it is probably time. When I got to the point where nothing worked and I felt like I had nothing to loose, I scheduled surgery. When a man still has doubts, I look at it like he is not ready.

I am now 8 months post-op and extremely happy with my implant. I feel like my life was given back to me. I feel like a complete man. I am happier and more confident than I have been in years.

Best wishes to you.
