Assuage my fears about IPP

Hi all.

I've been reading this forum for 6 months while contemplating IPP surgery. Finally joined today.

I've coursed my way through six years of pills, potions, pumps, penile injections, testosterone injections, and cock rings. Now exasperated, I'm probably at a place in time where I should get the IPP surgery. But at age 47, I would never have imagined this. My uro recommends the AMS 700 LGX because I’m fairly young and my flaccid dick stretches out to 6-7/8” (nearly 7” when erect). He says I likely will not lose any length (may even gain some) and will probably add girth post-op.

I don't have diabetes, dysfunctional psychological issues, or other health problems that would appear to contribute to ED (though I did have BPH prostate surgery last year). My wife is gorgeous. I get highly aroused with her in bed, except Mr. Happy does not cooperate unless he's been fed 1/2 cc of Trimix -- and even then he loses steam after about 10 minutes.

Cannot begin to tell you how much of a downer this ED stuff is. If you saw me, you’d think I was the picture of fitness and health. Nearly complete loss of confidence not only in the bedroom, but also just feeling like a real man. With the BPH, I would have to stand at a urinal for up to 4 or 5 minutes before I could even pee – while other guys are coming in, bleeding their goose, and leaving. ED only makes things worse.

So I’ve read on this forum about the surgery and everyone’s experience with the surgery. But I’m left with questions about how one feels about his new equipment post-op. Would welcome your comments on the following questions:

1) When you slide in during sex, does it feel the same as it did before ED?
2) How differently does your package hang and feel a year post-op?
3) If you jack off with an IPP, how differently does it feel than before surgery? Is it okay to JO with an IPP?
4) How differently does your dick feel in your hand and when you’re urinating?
5) Do I need to be concerned about a conspicuous pants bulge while going about my daily activities?
6) Does the IPP make your balls hang lower or higher? Any shirinkage?
7) Does the glans engorge during sex (assuming the cylinders are properly fitted)?
8) Does the glans feel any differently during sex than before ED?

Lots of fears leading to thesequestions. I suppose my worst fear is going through with this irreversible surgical procedure only then to experience a condition worse than pre-op.

Thanks all for any thoughts you can offer.

Your situation sounds very similar to mine...I am now 45, but had my IPP surgery done on 10/5/11 at age 44. I too went through the gauntlet of treatments and found them all lacking after the pills stopped working for me after 5 years. This is the only real health issue I have had and believe me when I tell you I know how you feel! After doing tons of research and speaking to several guys from FT I made the decision to go ahead and take the plunge. I could not be happier with the results and the entire process including the surgery was really pretty easy. I would certainly seek out the best doctor and don't be afraid to travel to get the best. I used Dr. Eid in NYC and I am convinced I made a great decision. I had no swelling or bruising at all and very minimal pain after the procedure. He installed a 22cm Coloplast Titan OTR and I am extremely pleased with it's operation and fit. I don't even know it's there now until I need it!
To answer your questions:
1) When you slide in during sex, does it feel the same as it did before ED? Yes
2) How differently does your package hang and feel a year post-op? Only been three months, but it looks bigger and it hangs a bit more "out" than before but pretty easy to deal with using compression underwear.
3) If you jack off with an IPP, how differently does it feel than before surgery? Is it okay to JO with an IPP? Feels the same. J/o often-lol works great...feels the same
4) How differently does your dick feel in your hand and when you’re urinating? It is larger in your hand and a bit heavier/
thicker...a bit stiffer...like a 10% erection? Impressive if anyone looks over-lol
5) Do I need to be concerned about a conspicuous pants bulge while going about my daily activities? No, I use compression underwear and tuck it left...ok for me. I am 6.375" erect now about 1/8" larger than before. I actually should re-measure now that my glans engorge...I should be about 6.5" now
6) Does the IPP make your balls hang lower or higher? Any shirinkage? I have been on test for about 3 years so my balls have shrunk but they hang the same. My pump is behind them positioned perfectly...did not need to pull down or reposition it.
7) Does the glans engorge during sex (assuming the cylinders are properly fitted)? It does now...took about two months to get it back. It did feel a bit strange at first because the glans were not hard, but gradually it came back.
8) Does the glans feel any differently during sex than before ED? Feels the same now, but it was not engorged initially and
still felt pretty great.
Bottom line: do it. I feel "cured" from the horrible curse of ED finally. My wife loves it too and she was not on board with the whole surgery thing. I vote for the Titan because I am so happy with it. PM me if you want more specific info or if you would prefer to talk by phone. As I mentioned above, I spoke to at least three successful implantees and I found it to be
invaluable to be able to ask so many questions...

All the best,
Bob

By joining Frank Talk you have become a member of a brotherhood of great guys who will always be here for you and who have all walked in your shoes while battling ED.
First, I would suggest you see a Urologist who specializes in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction.
He will probably run a Doppler Test to check if there is sufficient blood flow to your penis.
The two main causes of ED are insufficient blood flow (arterial insufficiency) and venous leakage.

NE_Bob has done an excellent job in correctly answering your list of questions re the Penile Implant.
Like NE_Bob, I also have the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant and, since I am completely satisfied, I would highly recommed
it to you without hesitation.
Also, the Titan Penile Implant is recommended for men with a penis of 7 inches or greater, since it is sturdier.

I think that the best way for me to provide you with some more info about ED is to share the story of my battle with ED.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65 and had never experienced any problem prior to that.
Viagra, Cialis, etc. did not work for me.
After much research and having the opportunity to speak with 2 men who underwent the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure, I had my Titan Implant Procedure December 13, 2007.
The Titan Penile Implant completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
I became a Coloplast Patient Educator in January 2008 in order to share my Pre-Implant and Post-Implant experiences with men still suffering from ED and its devastating side effects.
I just celebrated the Fourth Anniversary of my Titan Implant December 13th and my wife and I could not be happier with it.
The FT Group has a bunch of great guys who are always willing to reach out to other men suffering with ED.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to talk.

Bob

Welcome asmith!

I'm Dave from Almont, MI. I'm 60, diabetic, hypertension, etc., the typical out of shape guy. My ED went back to youth, a couple of falls on a bike bar gave me some leakage that caused the erections to get worse with time. I had the AMS LGX installed on 3-17-2011.

NE_Bob pretty much hit the nail on the head. I can only slightly modify a couple of his responses based on my experience. It took me more than a couple of months to regain the engorgement in the glans. As far as feeling the same, I would say not quite. Everything feels almost the same, but I can tell its different than it used to be. Not in a bad way, just different. As far as hanging, I only shrink slightly in length when deflated, so you will put on a nice profile at the urinal. I do now have a bulge, as I find the compression underwear uncomfortable. It's not super obvious, I'm not self concious about it, but I have caught a few people do a double take when their eyes hit a certain spot.

You mention the effects this has had on your confidence. This area surprised me, I didn't think it bothered me all that much. Once I got the implant and knew I now could get an erection any time I wanted, for as long as I wanted, my whole confidence issue improved greatly. All I can say is - DO IT! Find a doctor you have confidence in and take the plunge.

If you would like to talk on the phone, I would also be willing to do that. Just PM me.

Dave
