My surgeon has said that I can have my surgery done in a surgery center or a hospital. Would like to know what your thoughts are on which one would be the best? Scheduled for 6/18/19, & getting more nervous each day. Have to let my surgeon know this Wednesday.

What is the health record of each facility. I would not take my dog to my local hospital. I chose a large university hospital that was 100 miles from my home. The Dr had 30 years experience and the hospital has an impeccable record. If you are not 100% happy with the facilities or Dr, move on.I assume you have medicare and they pay for the best. in fact USC Keck which is one of the finest around charged less than what was allowed for the procedure and my supplement insurance had nothing to pay.

I had the same option. I opted for the hospital. My surgery was done on a Friday. If I went home after the surgery I would have had to keep the catheter in all weekend plus they were able to give me pain meds through my IV. I'm glad I did stay in the hospital.

It is not like that,the surgery centers are inherently less safe than hospitals. But one should do the surgery where he gets more facility and effective results. One can take the help of health insurance plans like Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement, Medigap plan G, Mutual of Omaha health insurance and more which can be purchased at The Health Exchange Agency. My uncle also enrolled his wife in the company for health plan.

I just was implanted on 5/16 and had both choices available. I went with the Hackensack Hospital which is a great hospital. The staff was great, the private room facing the NYC skyline was better than some hotels. Dr. Sedaghi said that he could use different pain meds in the hospital which would take the edge of the first couple of days.

I had no real pain. I wouldn't have wanted to go home the same day and return to have the drain and catheter removed.

Its now day 9 for me and I am very happy with my choice of doctor, device and hospital.

Personally I would try to select an exceptionally qualified surgeon and then trust them to determine the most appropriate setting for surgery based on how their practice is set up.
